Englewood New Jersey reports Colonel Charles A Lindbergh is father to a son weighing 7 pounds 15 ounces born at 3:15 PM. The baby’s birth on Mrs. Lindbergh’s 24th birthday prompted speculation on a name and drew praise from Ambassador Morrow.
Putnam county farmers will attend the annual field day at Purdue University next Thursday. The program includes rotation, fertilizer and grain and clover discussions at the crops farm, a noon luncheon, an address by Dean J H Skinner, and a campus tour in the afternoon guided by Purdue staff. Women have a special program through the home economies division, and Floyd Miller is the contact for more information.
Judge James P. Hughes in Putnam circuit court returned a finding for the plaintiff United States Rubber Company against Timberman Brothers of Reelsville. The court awarded $245.05 due for goods bought and not paid.

The Greencastle Specials lose to Terre Haute G O P 12 to 8 at Limnedale Diamond. Three costly third inning errors, six runs for visitors in that frame. Specials' best inning was the eighth with four runs. Next Sunday they host Hymera in a Limedale doubleheader.
The Indiana Business Review reports a May rise in overall business activity in Indiana from 13.7 to 13.2 percent below normal. The index covers auto, coal, stone, electric power, pig iron, building contracts, bank debits, and livestock receipts, compiled by the Indianapolis IU bureau of business research and published by Fletcher American National Bank.
Washington reports a federal hospital committee will announce that the Indiana veterans hospital authorized by Congress will be built in Indianapolis. The project, funded at 500000 dollars for a 150 bed facility, aims to station the U S veterans bureau branch there, with site surveying and architect planning totaling several months before bids.
The Morgan County Automobile Club plans a Sunday trip to Martinsville for an excursion by car. A Day of Fillmore finished harvesting 15 acres of alfalfa. Miss Edna Hillis daughter of Mr and Mrs Roy Hillis of east Washington street will depart for Jackson Michigan Tuesday to serve at the Alpha Gamma Delta camp for children The two week summer camp operated by the sorority offers outdoor life at no charge to slum children from northern cities and is run by sorority members Miss Hillis will be away two weeks.
Thomas D Drake Brookshire 68 died suddenly Sunday night at 11 30 o clock of apoplexy at his home in Roachdale He was a prominent Putnam County farmer banker and community leader He leaves a widow two children Flora Crocian Ladoga Carlisle M Brookshire and a widow The funeral is Tuesday at 2 30 pm at the Roachdale Presbyterian Church. He was born near Ladoga Montgomery County lived there until 1891 then moved to Putnam County. He served on the Putnam County Board of Commissioners and the Putnam County Council and was active in Democratic politics. He was a Presbyterian and a Mason.
John Lovell, son of Mr. and Mrs. W A Lovell, was rescued Sunday afternoon after going under the second time at Crow's bridge. A second boy was saved. his name was not learned. Dozens of people helped as the log they rode floated into deeper water and both boys could not swim. Ed Buis brought the Lovell boy to the surface as the water ran about twelve feet deep.
Government engineers begin immediate development of an emergency landing field on the old Browning farm southeast of Greencastle. The project includes leveling, seeding, lighting, and marking along the national road to aid air mail pilots by fall, with bids opened June 30 and engineer Morris arriving next Thursday.
A fast eastbound freight derailed three cars and damaged a quarter mile of track between Almeda and Fillmore on Sunday about 9 PM. A broken draw bar derailed the leading cars, with twelve cars further back leaving the track. Two derailed cars were empty. one was loaded. Wrecker and section crew repaired the line by 2 AM with about 400 ties damaged and 200 needing replacement.
