Willia Blanchard's Old Gold Serenaders and Jimmie Bittles provided a musical program for the Kiwanis luncheon held at the Christian church social rooms at noon today. There was no speaker.
Dr. John Egan announced plans to combine his medical practice with Dr. W J Krider a dentist in rooms above Schoenmans store The two doctors will share a single telephone line and four joint waiting rooms for patients with no change to existing numbers
The Greencastle district Epworth League convention will be held Friday in Indianapolis. The Riverside M E church league will entertain all the other leagues in the district.
A letter from Mrs A FE Budd of Darlington requests a $1 trade prize in exchange for tan fabric gloves or a tan tie, enclosing a balloon tag tied to an advertisement for a recent air tour. Darlington lies in Montgomery County, about 40 miles from Greencastle.
Democratic members of the City council wrestle with selecting a Democrat to fill the school board seat vacated by Dr. C. C. Tucker whose term ends August 1. Names floated include Gillen Cannon Eitelforge Fitel Bamberger and Dobbs but Gillen has declined due to a congressional run. Third ward patrons push for representation. the council vote is expected next week.
The County Federation of Clubs holds its June meeting in Bainbridge on Tuesday 24 starting at 10 45 AM. The theme is Woman's Service as Citizens with speakers on voting public work and party service followed by a round table led by Mrs Bruce Lane. Mrs Frank Donner will give an afternoon address and members bring a dish for the meal.

Mobile business man Harold H. Schroeder was not the Indianapolis High School road murder victim but is now the focus of a wide search as the possible slayer or instigator. A wife sworn statement says Schroeder sent two air mail letters from Nashville on June 6, and a special delivery from Indianapolis on May 5. The investigation links a hitchhiker with a tan blanket and raincoat marked S A H S to the victim.
William Lee White 23 alias Harry Smith pled guilty in Montgomery circuit court to burglary and received from three to ten years at the state reformatory Pendleton. Judge Rice disfranchised him for three years. White admitted theft of an automobile from Warner Galey on April 19 and was linked to several holdups burglaries and car thefts.
Greencastle independent baseball team hosts Terre Haute's last G.O.P. squad at Limedale field two miles from Greencastle on Manhattan road Sunday at 2 30. Manager W E Abel has not fixed the lineup but Harlan is expected on the mound with Black behind the bat. The Specials recently defeated Cloverdale Grey Sox 15 4, showcasing strong hitting and pitching.
In Los Angeles on June 19 officials from Sinclair Consolidated Oil Co were reported to be negotiating to acquire Richfield Oil Co of California. The proposed merger would use an exchange of stock according to the reports.
Rear Admiral Richard E. Byrd, famed for conquering the south pole, returns to New York after nearly two years of exploration. Crowds cheer as he is paraded up Broadway to City Hall with his mother Mrs. Eleanor Bolling Byrd at his side amid bands, ticker tape, and celebrations across the city.

Lester Wells age 19 son of Mrs. Frank Wells suffered a crushed leg while boarding a train at Rensselaer. The injury required amputation between the ankle and knee. A message from Jimmy Terry reports the accident. Margaret Wells sister headed to be with him.
Newcastle Indiana reports routine committee work and officer talks as the state convention continues. Mrs Winona Evans Reeves of Chicago addressed delegates on The Power of the P R O Dollar and gave a banquet speech My Neighbor Said. Officers to be elected tomorrow. Feen Spurgeon from Terre Haute expected to become president.
Police report thieves tried to break into Grogan Miller Grocery on east Washington Street about 10 PM Wednesday. The basement door was pried, the lock broken, but no entry or items were taken. proprietor Miller could not secure the door until after the incident.
The Moonlit mini golf course on East Washington Street Greencastle drew several hundred visitors on opening night. Roscoe Hurst built and will manage the course presenting unique hazards on each hole attracting both golf enthusiasts and novices alike.
Greencastle pupils saved seven thousand four hundred sixty one dollars and seven cents in the School Savings Bank as Thrift Incorporated promotes thrift in schools. First National Bank and Central Trust Co offer summer deposits to small savers, encouraging regular deposits during vacation.
The Greencastle Band opens a summer series of weekly concerts on the courthouse lawn tonight. The event was postponed from last Thursday due to players’ travel. Merchants of Greencastle support the concerts.
Chicago, June 19. Lieutenant John Morton, a veteran detective and murder cases expert, named Chief of Detectives by acting Commissioner John Alcock as part of Mayor Thompson’s order to drive the crooks from Chicago. About 500 of 900 detectives to be reassigned to patrol duty. Norton replaces Captain Stege. Capt John Ryan named deputy Chief of Detectives to assist.
Five cars were damaged in a noon time wreck on National Road just west of Manhattan. Three new Studebakers headed to St Louis were struck as H Marsh of St Louis tried to pass a transport driven by Lewis Hoss. Marsh left the road, a wheel tore, an eastbound car swerved into a bank to avoid collision. Clyde Rouhien of Dayton drove that car. No injuries and no arrests reported.
The Chamber of Commerce aviation committee thanks the American Legion members and Greencastle Boy Scouts for aiding the air tour reception held Tuesday, helping welcome visitors and participants.
