Flying Aboard a Tri-Motor Plane Over Forest Hill Cemetery

A writer recalls a 15 minute sky ride that stretched to nearly an hour and a half aboard Reg Robbins’s Ford tri motor. Parachutist Paul Deweese landed on the runway amid cheers from a select group of passengers. The writer notes stomach churning and prefers not to overfly cemeteries.

Joe Vail Flies to Kokomo for Plane Repairs

Joe Vail of Madison could not repair his plane after it racked up Tuesday afternoon. He was taken to Kokomo by Miss Mary Case in a Chevrolet for a four hour round trip covering 92 miles to have the Shockley Flying Service plane dismantled and a strut repaired in Greencastle. The plane was repaired last night and the flyers left this morning.

Parachute Leap Thrills Crowds at Greencastle Air Event

A parachute jump by Paul Deweese drew a large crowd during a Greencastle stop of the All Indiana Air Tour. Col Reg Robbins piloted the Ford tri motor carrying 14 passengers per trip as hundreds watched sky rides at dusk. A plane repair delayed departure. pilot Joe Vail rejoined the fleet after a new strut arrived.

Fred Snively Air Tour Passenger To Terre Haute

Fred Snively city clerk was the sole passenger added to an air tour leaving Greencastle. The cabin plane from Indianapolis Capitol Airport piloted by Lieut Jose reached Terre Haute in twenty nine minutes after bypassing a storm. Snively noted Terre Haute arrivals drew a smaller crowd than Greencastle's reception. The Terre Haute Aero club hosted a banquet and the flyers stayed at the Deming hotel before moving on to Lafayette.

Five Thousand Visit Greencastle Airport On All Indiana Tour

About 5,000 people visited Greencastle airport on Tuesday to inspect planes of the All Indiana Tour. The Chamber of Commerce announced the event and 1,198 cars entered the field with efficient parking arranged by E R Smith and Wilbur Donner and assistants.

Farrow to be released. Greencastle police hold case

Leon Farrow 30 of North Salem and Agnes Deevers 17 of Floyd Township were detained by Greencastle authorities after a revoked license plate car was found in Farrow’s possession. Farrow confessed issuing a bad check to King Morrison and Foster dealers but charges were not filed after his father repaid the amount. Swarens of North Locust Street had the car, whose plates were later found on Farrow’s vehicle. Swarens had his car stripped previously and did not pursue charges.

Death Claims Putnam County Man Wednesday

John Hirai McCammack of Jefferson Township aged 64 died at his home near Belle Union at 5 20 this morning after six months illness. Funeral services will be Friday at 11 00 in Mill Creek Church with burial in Mill Creek cemetery. Rev Reuben Masten and Rev Harold McCammack to lead. He is survived by a widow from Belle Union and a daughter Mrs Frank Hurst living with her parents and a brother Roberta W McCammack of Greenbusta.

Judgment Sought Against Andrew Tincher for 540

In Putnam circuit Court John Bowen seeks a judgment of 540 against Andrew Tincher. The Citizens Trust Company is named as co-defendant as Tincher’s guardian, alleging Tincher is an aged, infirm person unable to manage his affairs. The claim arises from work and services rendered in recent years. Hollie C. Hibbs was appointed administrator of the estate of William Paul Hibbs, deceased.

Miss Mary Case Flies to Lebanon With Col Robbins

Miss Mary Case of Greencastle studied aviation at Curtis Field in Indianapolis and flew to Lebanon this morning with Col Reg Robbins in his tri motored Ford plane. She was the lone Greencastle resident on the flight.

Hospital heads meet Tuesday in Crawfordsville

Thirteen Indiana county hospitals gathered in Crawfordsville for a county hospital conference chaired by Shirl Herr of Culver hospital. Fort Wayne attorney J. D. O Mara spoke on legal aspects, with William Coeppres and Gladys Brandt addressing lab value and county hospital needs.

The Farmers & Merchants State Bank, a $150000 institution in Bryant Indiana, closed today after a $2500 hold up on June 9 and depositor runs. Stockholders and directors voted to liquidate due to costly withdrawals and appointed a four member liquidating committee led by J Arnold of Fort Wayne.
