A derailment at Limedale near the Indiana Port land Cement plant injured brakeman J W McGrath of Lafayette and killed five head of stock on Saturday night. Two derailed cars blocked the main line as a second engine was diverted to clear the track. Railroad workers toiled until dawn to remove the wreckage and move stock to another car at Bainbridge.

Two Greencastle youths James Hall and Paul Wright narrowly escaped drowning in Big Walnut creek west of Greencastle on Saturday. The Hall boy who could not swim clutched the Wright boy, who with limited swimming ability, tried to pull him to safety before college students hauled the exhausted pair from the water.

Ex Cloverdale Man Dies in Indianapolis Civil War Vet
Albert Newton Holloway aged 83 died at his home 6243 Central Avenue Indianapolis following a long life that began near Lebanon on January 12, 1845. He served in the 11th Indiana Infantry under Gen. Lew Wallace, later worked in lumber in Lebanon and Cloverdale, and formerly ran a laundry on East Franklin Street in Indianapolis. He is survived by Flora Holloway his widow three sons Jeanette Holloway Edith Monroe and Milton Jasper Holloway two daughters and a twin brother Milton Jasper Holloway. Funeral services will be held at 1 pm tomorrow at the home with Rev. William F. Rothenburger of the Third Christian Church officiating. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lebanon.

Jones Pleads Guilty To Two Liquor Charges
Simon Jones an elderly New Maysville man pleaded guilty in Putnam Circuit Court to sale and possession of liquor. He was fined about 140 dollars on each charge and sentenced to three months on the State Farm, with sentences to run concurrently if fines are paid.

Bainbridge Man Found Dead After Suspected Self Inflicted Shot
The body of Leo Lane 24 of Bainbridge was found in Churchill Allen woods near Bainbridge Sunday about 10 am. A note in his left hand claimed the shooting was accidental, but locals doubt he wrote it after the wound. Lane formerly ran a Bainbridge restaurant and worked as a carpenter. Funeral services were held Monday at the Bainbridge Methodist Church.
