In Columbus Indiana two men Jack Lux and Vernon Lake are jailed on charges of contributing to the delinquency of a 15 year old girl who died after a Caesarian operation. Bond set at 1000 dollars. The girl allegedly implicated Lake and Lux in affidavits signed by her father Elmer Ping.

An express car load of homing pigeons arrived from Cleveland with a keeper. If weather cooperates, the birds will be released Sunday to begin their flight back to their home lofts.

Annual Basket Picnic of St Louis VA Pensyl railroad

Plans are set for the annual basket picnic and meeting of the Veteran Employees Association of the St Louis division of the Pennsylvania railroad. The event will be held Saturday June 14 in Deming Park Terre Haute with music games and refreshments and a chance to catch up with old friends. All veterans are urged to attend.

Two Girls Injured In Auto Smashup Near Crawfordsville Club

Two young women Leona Evans and Esther Baker suffered injuries when a Chevrolet coach overturned at the Crawfordsville country club entrance. Driver Albert Fitzsimmons blamed glare from two oncoming cars. passengers Hutchins and Roundtree aided the injured at Culver hospital. Baker kept overnight with minor cuts, Evans bruises and a backache but not serious injuries.

New Angle Develops in Sedan Murder Case

An Indianapolis report reveals the burned 1930 Chrysler sedan on the High School road carries motor number V 7569, not the licensed 48- SIA car. Alabama official records tie the license 202300 to Harold Herbert Schroeder of Mobile, a key figure in the murder case, who allegedly traded a 1929 Chrysler 65 for the sedan found burned.

Balloons to Advertise Air Tour In Greencastle

Merchants buy thirty two hundred toy balloons for the All Indiana Air Tour with cards offering rides in a Ford tri motor plane or merchandise prizes. Balloons will be released on five days starting June 11 from the courthouse lawn at 4 pm, traveling an estimated 15 to 20 miles across the county.

Shipment of 40000 Tomato Plants Arrives for County Canning

A shipment of 40000 tomato plants arrived by express for the Greennastle Canning Co and will be planted by Putnam county farmers. Plants come from Kentucky Georgia and Vincennes with Spain and Baltimore varieties. Over 300000 plants total will cover about 400 acres in the county. James Elliott Acres to receive his MA degree at the fifty ninth annual University of Illinois commencement next Wednesday as President Kinley delivers the address.

Funeral for 99 year old James Henry Arnold in Fillmore

Funeral services were held for James Henry Arnold age 99 who died at his daughter’s home near Fillmore. The Christian church was the site with Rev. Bruner in charge and burial in Fillmore Cemetery. Arnold was an early county settler from Kentucky and is survived by eighty three dependents including five children.

Tri Motored Ford Plane to Visit Greencastle June 17

A giant tri motor Ford 14 passenger plane piloted by Col. Reg Robbins will land at Greencastle municipal airport at 10 am Tuesday June 17 as part of the Indiana Air Tour. About 35 to 40 planes are expected. Robbins will offer passenger flights and parachute jumper George Babcock will dive from 5 000 feet. The new aviation field near town on the Mt Meredian back bone road is being prepared for the event.

The American Legion plans to fund and organize a new Boy Scout troop on Maple Heights. The troop will cooperate with the Green Castle troops but will have its own scout master and be supervised by the district scout executive.

DePauw Academy Graduation and Local School Honors

Prof Andrew Stephenson addressed DePauw Academy graduates as eighteen received diplomas. Reelsville pupil Audra Bond named honor pupil with Flora Vandament as teacher. Berkley Watson earned a perfect school record for the year, completing third and fourth grades with no absences or tardies. A film titled Thellys Heart will be shown with song and views accompanying the event.

Purse Stolen From Bench At City Station

Mrs. Mort Diall of Lockport reports a pocket hook with $25 and a $50 check stolen from a bench in the waiting room after a 9:30 Big Four train arrival. Officers pursued two suspicious men who fled toward West Walnut Street. they were captured, held on vagabond charges, with no money found. Mrs. Diall is an Aria Smythe, formerly of Greencastle.

Former Putnam County Man Dies in Indianapolis

Charles C. Boyd aged 60 died of heart disease at home 4031 Rookwood Ave Indianapolis. Funeral services will be held tomorrow at 2 PM with burial likely at Crown Hill cemetery. Born in Putnamville he lived in Chicago before settling in Indianapolis. Survivors include widow Louikea Boyd two sons Glen J. and William F. Boyd of Chicago and sister Miss Victoria Boyd of Chicago.

Festival of Music at DePauw School Recitals

The DePauw School of Music hosted a two day festival in Music hall with student ensembles and solo performances. Young musicians aged eight to high school delighted audiences as Miss Rutledge and Miss Walker guided violin and piano selections, including Veronica Vosmeyer and Patience Thompson, while parents presented flowers to express appreciation.

Grad travels 7000 miles to attend DePauw commencement

Levi Salmans from old Mexico arrives for DePauw University class of 79 commencement in Greencastle. He says the trip cost more than a year of attendance and expects his classmate Charles Brook of Chicago to join for a hometown reunion.

Three Madison Township youths charged with malicious trespass

Three Madison township youths Noah Hunter 18 Donald Marshall 16 and Charles Shields 16 were arrested by Deputy Sheriff Alva Bryan and jailed to await arraignment on malicious trespass charges. Farmer R P Moore says they invaded his farm June night dismantled a cultivator damaged beyond repair and damaged corn and other machinery. Hunter allegedly instigated the act and faces up to 24 months with possible fine. Arraignment likely Monday. Moore says the youths confessed.

Putnam County Fair Dates Set for August 14 15 16

Putnam County Fair Board met in the county agent’s office to outline plans for the annual fair held with the Junior Fair 4 H clubs. Tentative dates August 14 15 and 16 were set, with location unchanged at the court house area. Officers will be elected at the next board meeting and preparations for event scope are ongoing. Dr T A Sigler presides as board president.

DePauw University Class Play Opens Tonight And Alumni Day Events

DePauw University schedules a senior class play Skidding in the Little Theater tonight as part of an Alumni Day program. The day includes a dedication of Asbury Hall a $250000 recitation building, trustee meeting and alumni luncheon with 400 reservations. Reunions for 1929 1927 and earlier classes, baccalaureate Sunday and speeches by President Oxnam mark a weekend of campus events.
