The Mt. Pisgah home coming will be held Sunday June 15 1930. An interesting program is being prepared and all are cordially invited to attend.
An announcement states the Greencastle band will open the summer concert series on Thursday night June 12. Band concerts have been a weekly feature for years, with merchants to be solicited for funds to cover the coming season.
The death of Harvey Denny 90 a Cloverdale merchant and Civil War veteran occurred Wednesday night at his home after a general debility illness. He leaves a widow two sons Aly and Charley Denny of Cloverdale and a daughter Mrs William Allee of Greencastle. Funeral likely Saturday at 2 30 PM.
Mrs. Vera H. Glidewell aged 38 died yesterday at her home 17 North Arlington avenue Indianapolis after a two month illness. She was married to Ivan B Glidewell professor of pharmacy at the Indianapolis College of Pharmacy. Funeral services will be at Irvington Methodist Episcopal Church at 10 tomorrow. Burial at Ame. She was born in Ameo daughter of Mr and Mrs J Elmer Hodson. She lived in Ameo until marriage in 1915. The couple lived in Greenscastle until 1923 when they moved to Indianapolis. Survivors include husband parents and two children Marvin and Mareelean Glidewell.
Local interest at the Republican State Convention in Indianapolis centers on the State Treasurer nomination. Sol Sudranski, of this city, is a candidate and is in Indianapolis with several local Republican leaders. Balloting likely won’t start until midafternoon.
George Rockwell, a veteran Cloverdale Republican, travels from Greencastle to Indianapolis for the State Republican convention. He is accompanied by Doris Denny and W. T. ONeal, with Mr. and Mrs. Estes Duncan of Cloverdale also attending the event.
Putnam County's oldest resident James Henry Arnold 99 died at 3 am in Marion township home of his daughter Mrs. John Henry Nichols. Funeral set for Friday at 2:30 pm at Fillmore Christian Church with Rev. Bruner in charge. Interment in Forest Hill cemetery. Arnold born August 29, 1830 in Kentucky married Sallie A. Purcell August 7, 1856. Survived by five children eighty three descendants including 24 grandchildren 52 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. He had lived in the county since 1856 and was a longtime Christian church member.
Mrs. Sarah Dollinger, a prominent Goshen resident aged 99, has died in Goshen Ind on June 5. She was five months shy of her 100th birthday and left a long local legacy.
A large fire swept Wheatland Indiana early today, destroying six buildings including Rogers Grocery Ford Garage Thomas Ward residence Farmers & Merchants Bank W D Lett store and Fr D Wallace bakery. Firefighters from Vincennes aided but water shortages hampered efforts with communications to other cities disrupted. Origin of the blaze undetermined. Paul Hibbs from west of Somerset was admitted to Putnam County Hospital for probable surgery.
Thundershowers expected tonight and Friday with cooler air moving in Friday, especially in the northern portion tonight.
Putnam County Tuberculosis Association Nursing Committee decides to end the children’s summer health camps after a meeting with County Nurse Mary Agnes Miller on Tuesday. They instead plan more tubercular clinics at the county hospital under Dr. Stevall’s direction. Committee members include Mrs. McCutchan Mrs. Ernest Stoner Russell Brown Dr. John A. Egan Mrs. Frank Jones Mrs. Gray Potter Estes Duncan and Mrs. A Shephard.
Charles McGaughey of Greencastle serves as one of thirteen vice presidents of the Republican State convention at Cable Tabernacle Indianapolis opening at 10 this morning. Sol Sudranski of Greencastle seeks state treasurer nomination while Harry K Nichols of Madison is favored. Caleb C. Williams of Pendleton also contends. Arthur M. Hyde and Governor Harry G. Leslie speak. Richard N. Elliott of Connersville presides as convention president.

Three Madison township youths Noah Hunter 15 Donald Marshall 16 and Charles Shields 16 all near Moore's home allegedly invaded the farm of R P Moore Tuesday night in a raid of wholesale destruction and may be charged with malicious trespass authorities said Thursday.
The 20 years ago Greencassle graduation featured speakers Miss Hildegard Haspel on social settlement aims, Harry Burnside on good roads, Jean Selby on domestic science, Matilda Vancleave on child labor, Evan Strain on science, Edith Bastin on Tennyson, and Mary Strain on visions. Mrs T M Lane visited Cloverdale with friends in a White Steamer, while Prof A F Caldwell departed for Europe for summer study.
J H Riddell president of Riddell National Bank Brazil will preside over the twenty first annual Group Five meeting of the Indiana Bankers Association in Lafayette on June 10 with more than 300 bankers expected. Kilmer W Stout of Indianapolis will speak on Banking Trends along with several other speakers. Registration begins at 10 30 am at the Lafayette Country Club and dinner will follow at noon prior to the business session. Attending bankers from local banks include A G Brown Russell Brown Perry Rush Simpson Stoner Joe Crosby Harry Wells and Kenneth West.
Four local youths were arrested in Indianapolis after playing a sociable game of poker in Floral Park cemetery using a tombstone as a table and markers as seats. They faced gambling and trespass charges. suspects listed as Reid McClintock 16 Chas Wiegand 19 William Earl 16 and James Earl 24.

John W. Brown employed at the Frank Allen filling station north of Greencastle on State road 43 was arrested Wednesday by Deputy Sheriff Alva Bryan on a charge of child desertion. The affidavit by Mrs. Benjamin Toole alleges Brown neglected three children Charles 8 Helen 5 Ernest 2, failing to provide food clothing and medical care. Brown was jailed in Putnam County awaiting arraignment likely Friday.
Indianapolis reports a heat wave across central Indiana with at least five deaths in 36 hours. Two victims fatally prostrated, two drowned seeking relief in streams, and one death linked to heat. Temperatures near 90s with Vincennes peaking around 95. Expected thundershowers may bring cooling relief.
In Peru Indiana a $100 bank roll lay in a gutter for an hour before Nathan Rollen of Richmond Virginia recovered it. He spotted the money while walking Third Street, hurried back to the restaurant, then retraced his steps to claim the cash. In Michigan City a prison dog adopted two baby groundhogs found by prisoners digging in the yard. the mother dog fed the orphans as they thrived.
