Evanston Newfoundland Feb. 6 Clarence E Uhl 82 a Garrett Biblical Institute graduate is jailed on burglary charges after confessing to stealing from Bible school and Northwestern University dorms. Police say his pattern spanned months with loot including two typewriters 20 watches firearms and clothing. He claimed a moral call forced the thefts to support his wife and pledged reform after arrest.

Mishawaka Teens Die In Bremen Road Crash
Two Mishawaka youths died and two others were injured when a car driven by 28 year old Waskell Rowings was forced off the road near Bremen. Victims were Robert Baker 22 and August Vanheck 19. Injured were Norman Robert Hutchins 20 and Rowings. The car struck a telephone pole and overturned after being forced off the road.

Farm Escape Sent Fame With Mother
Robert Schrader a 19 year old from South Bend escaped the penal farm after suspension of a 1 to 5 year term in the Indiana State Reformatory. Judge James P Hughes suspended the sentence noting influence by Gordon Jones. Schrader left with Jones and John H Mooney of Chicago. all were captured in Paris Illinois. Jones got three months on the farm and $50 fine. Mooney acquitted. Schroeder had been serving ten months of a six month sentence for stealing a spare tire for his father's car, a sentence later deemed too harsh. He was a Notre Dame freshman at the time of sentencing.
