Officials search for two robbers who held up Chester Hunt at a Danville filling station, taking 54 dollars after demanding gas. The pair fled in an Auburn car. one suspect was tall and well dressed, the other short and ill clothed.
William Patterson, 26, suspected holdup man in the Jyde Hinshaw robbery case, is charged with aribery in an affidavit filed today by County Prosecutor Marshall Abrams. Patterson was not definitively identified by Hinshaw or his female companion, but authorities believe there is substantial evidence linking him to the crime.
City Superintendent George Walker said the county bought trucks on Tuesday and will distribute them by road districts. First District receives an International truck, Second District gets International and Chevrolet, Third District gets International and ord trucks.
DePauw's Moffett Ragsdale and Crawley led the attack as the Tigers outscored Indiana Central 41 to 13 in Bowman gym. Moritz and Judge defended, while the reserve units contributed. fouls and ragged shooting marked the otherwise open encounter.
Greencastle Tiger Cubs led 16 to 13 at halftime but faded in the second half, falling 24 to 22 to Shelbyville. Tobin, Gross, and Gene Crawley fouled out early in the second half as Shelbyville’s Robins, Kehrt, and Reiman led the scoring with a balanced team effort.
Sam Cox of near New Maysville pleaded guilty to intoxication in the court of Justice R. H. Newgent yesterday. He was fined 10 dollars and costs.
Owen Chapman, a World War veteran living on the Frank Palmer farm east of town, was admitted to the National Soldiers' Ward in Danville, Illinois, today in the Rector ambulance. The Green Castle post of the American Legion secured a bed for him as hospitals remain crowded.
About 56 000 Indiana University extension students are enrolled in home study across the state with 16 in the Greencastle class on history and physical education. Miss Clara Fedler directs the course, part of IU’s effort to let teachers and workers pursue university credit while maintaining positions. Extension services include libraries, exhibits, films, and cooperative community projects, serving nearly 10 000 students by year end.
The forecast shows mostly cloudy skies with possible snow or rain in the northeast tonight and in the south Thursday. Temperatures rise modestly in the west and south, with slightly warmer conditions expected.
The Brazil youth is plaintiff in a $5,000 damages suit filed by William King and next friend Edward King against Willis Miller Greencastle grocer. The crash occurred July 14 on the National Road at Mount Meridian with King claiming injuries including dental damage and facial lacerations.
Word arrives that Charles W Cook, DePauw University graduate in 1902, has been named president of Centenary College Tennessee. The Reed family of the Monon Railroad has moved to Greens Castles and resides in Mullinix property on Hana street. Dr W M McGaughey appointed physician for O I Stone Co.
Indiana fish and game chief Walter Shirts urges early applications for stock fish as books close April 1. The conservation department distributes millions of game fish, including pheasant eggs, to sportsmen and clubs. Last year over 9,000,000 baby fish were propagated, with 16,000 pheasant eggs distributed, and the Jasper Pulaski game reserve now covers 3,871 acres at a cost of 65,088.85.
Cars driven by W. S. St. Clair of 105 West Berry street and William Blanchard of 1008 South College Avenue collided at College Avenue and Park Street yesterday afternoon. St. Clair’s car sustained heavy left side damage and was towed to Tribby garage. no injuries were reported.
Charles McGaughey and Wilbur Donner, representing the Greencastle Chamber of Commerce and American Legion, left for Washington to petition the U S Veterans Bureau for an Indiana Veterans Hospital. A hearing is set for Friday at 9 a m local time with city petitions read before a bureau decision is announced later.

Purdue University prepares for the March 18 19 1950 eighth annual telephone plant conference sponsored by the engineering extension and electrical engineering schools. Prof J W Stafford says the event gathers telephone leaders to discuss city and rural service personnel staff organization and related topics with papers from experienced professionals and a banquet by a notable industry figure. Indianapolis Feb 5 The Barker family tragedy on Rockville Road ended in murder suicide. William Barker 58 shot and killed his wife Louise 36 as she slept, then killed himself after waking their children. Coroner C H Reever led an inquest as the four Barker children Mildred 18 Franklin 13 Emily 2 faced investigators. The couple had recently moved from Greenfield, with Barker previously quarrelling over a week ago and recent lodging on West 10th Street.
