Rotary Kiwanis Rim Trail Basketball Plot Unfolds

The Kiwanis and Rotarians clash in a basketball game with betting odds shifting toward the Rotarians. Plans include broadcasting rights to fund hospital services for crippled members and a training track along the Court House sidewalks. Officials for the game were finalized with Elder Willis Gill as field judge.

Freight Wreck Stops Traffic On The Monon

A northbound freight wreck near Stinesville two miles north of Bloomington halted Monon trains for hours. About 1,500 feet of track were torn up and twelve cars derailed after a car wheel went through a bridge. Wrecking crews worked through the night to clear the right of way as trains were delayed.

Forty Auto Licenses Issued As County Awaits Rush

Yesterday only forty passenger car licenses were issued, though about five thousand remain to be issued from Putnam county offices. Buyers lined up this morning and more are expected this afternoon when farmers come to town ahead of the February 1 deadline.

Memory loss follows auto crash near Brazil

Ray Redifer of Cloverland suffered complete memory loss after a two car collision on the National road four miles west of Brazil. He did not recall Christmas or his name, though doctors found no serious head injuries and expected memory to return after the shock wears off. Redifer was treated by Dr. Muncie and cared for at his Cloverland home.

Harry Foster Returned to Putnamville State Farm

Harry Foster, a Black man from South Greencastle, was captured Friday by state officers for parole violation and taken to the Indians State Farm at Putnamville. He still owes 135 dollars on a 340 dollar total fine and costs from June 1926, after serving six months for alleged offenses including public nuisance and liquor charges.

Sir Fugene Herron vs Jesse Mathews suit in Putnam circuit court

Sir Fugene Herron of Brazil filed a sui in Putnam circuit court seeking 285 damages from Jesse Mathews and Edith Mathews on a promissory note. He claims the Sept 1929 note for 3226 was due in a year with interest and attorney fees, now unpaid.

Bainbridge Legion to Hold Meeting After Membership Drive

Putnam Post 58 of the American Legion will stage a special meeting at Bainbridge Monday evening to replace the regular session. Commander Robert Hoffman said the gathering will discuss a year ahead and reveal committee rosters as Green Castle area ex servicemen travel to the Legion hall for the event. Will of James Bridges Admitted to Probate in Putnam

The will of James Bridges of Greencastle was admitted to probate in the Putnam circuit court. The document names his son Thomas Bridges as sole heir and names Attas iney B Corwin as executor. Gillen, Corwin’s partner, will act as executor. James Barnett of Reelsville underwent a major operation in Putnam County today with Dr M Onombs of Terre Haute as operating surgeon, assisted by Pr J Gilbert Rhea and Dr J F Gillespie.

Evangelistic Campaign Begins in Greencastle Churches

Dr Guy H Black will address the Union Vesper Service at the Greencastle Methodist Church on Sunday evening as part of a campaign launching next week. Wabash Valley Employees to Hold Annual Dinner Meeting

The Wabash Valley Employees Welfare Association will hold its annual dinner meeting Sunday at noon at the Country Club. Seventy six members from Clinton district offices including Greencastle will attend and the main speaker’s name is being kept secret until the dinner. Penal Parm Escape Is Sentenced To Reformatory

William A. Tillinghast aged 20 of Fort Wayne was sentenced by Judie James P. Hughes in Putnam circuit court to the Indiana State Reformatory at Pendleton for 1 to 5 years on a charge of escape from the Indiana State Farm. He had been at TutnariVille institution from Fort Wayne and allegedly escaped on November 25, later captured and returned by penal farm authorities.

Lebanon beat Greencastle 39 to 18 on Lebanon floor Friday night ending Greencastle’s early season win streak. Shahan and Williams led Lebanon with long shots while Stone and Hurst topped Greencastle scoring. Both teams cleared benches as the final buzzer expired.

British steamer Queentor afire at Aden in rescue effort

The British steamer Queentor was attacked near Aden today as fires raged aboard the vessel. A United States steamer Dives remained on standby to assist if the crew deserted, while the Queenmoor of 1862 tons sailed toward the Moor Hine of London. The Jeff Davis is a United States shipmin. Washington census reveals Greencastle City grows from 3780 to 4613 while most townships show declines. Cloverdale Bainbridge and Russellville drop, Jefferson Warren and others consolidate or move, county total rises to about 20 448 though county figure remains around 2 520.
