Clinton Center High School pupils presented an operetta titled In Old Louisiana at the school Friday night. The performance drew a good crowd of patrons and students. Copies of the Silver Crescent, the school paper, were distributed at the event.

Death claims aged resident of Greencastle

Mrs Caroline Swahlen aged 78 died early this morning at 6286 East Seminary Street Greencastle after injuries from a fall more than a year ago. Funeral at 4:30 pm Sunday at home conducted by Rev Alfred K E Moneer with burial Monday at Lebanon. Survived by husband Dr William P Swahlen and daughter Mrs J B Allen Jr. services and church membership noted.

Penal Farm Escape Sentenced to Prison in Indiana Case

Aaron Miller, 46, of Gibson County, was sentenced to Indiana State Prison at Michigan City for 1 to h years by Judge James P. Hughes in Putnam circuit court this morning on a charge of escaping from the Indiana State Farm at Putnamville. Miller allegedly escaped December 11, was recaptured, and brought to Greencastle before being jailed in Putnam County.

Large spreading Viper exhibited by Charles King

A large spreading Viper was displayed by Charles King on North Johnson street. The snake, active while others hibernated, was killed by Mr. King during a field hunt near town. It measured about four feet, unusually large for the species.

Today is the last day of the open quail season. The season was unsatisfactory for sportsmen due to warm weather and little snow, with few birds killed this year. Officials expect next year to bring abundant quail statewide.

Fire department responds to car blaze in Greencastle

Greencastle firefighters rushed to a Washington and Vine streets corner where a youth named Hall’s car caught fire. Officials say a burst radiator leaked alcohol onto the motor, causing the blaze. Damage remained slight and the fire was put out with a chemical extinguisher.

Three autos in smash up injures Indiana man

D Ginger of Indianapolis, an insurance man, suffered severe back injuries when his car turned over after a collision at Seminary and Lauster streets. The crash involved two other vehicles driven by Mrs. Knee Blick and Mrs. Marvin Akers. Ginger was the only seriously injured, with shock and back injuries reported.

Kray EO Dunkitte of Noblesville died when his car left the road and plunged down an embankment east of Stites We late Friday afternoon. He worked for the Coreretal Cheuntee Tasaranes Company and left Terte Piante before the crash. He was married with two children. Hershel Poster and wife came upon the scene soon after the accident.

Putnam County Council Meets to Set Current Expenses

Putnam County councilors met in the courthouse this morning with five county commissioners present. They appropriated a total of 1 000 for current expenses, including 202.61 for the coroner, 60 for bridge repair, 60 for orphan relief, 60 for county council salaries, and 1 167 for township poor. The group plans to reconvene December 41 to consider further appropriations including 500 for county agent expenses, 20.86 for farm supplies, and 846 for farm employee salaries.
