John H. Kelly of Crawfordsville aged 83 and a longtime local merchant policeman has died at home after twenty five years in the force. He retired seven years ago following a broken ankle. Born in Limerick Ireland he immigrated as a child and lived here. Funeral services will be held tomorrow at the local Catholic church.

A car veered off a road near Meridian at night leaving four injured. The driver fell asleep, the vehicle rolled over several times, and rescuers took Marvin Weddle Carson Weddle Vera Copeland and Roscoe Copeland to local hospitals.
Willard Denny aged 21, son of Aly Denny of Cloverdale, married for the second time at the home of Rev HLA Sherrill of Greencastle on a late Thursday afternoon. His first wife, Miss Leslie Smith of Rosemead, California, had been granted a divorce in Los Angeles. The ceremony was followed by a second wedding in Cloverdale with Mrs. Bohard present. Denny, employed in Chey erate, has ties to Reginald Denny’s family. The couple’s story involved prior marriages and a Mexican wedding at Tia Jina.
The Public Service commission will hold a hearing at the State House in Indianapolis on Monday January 5 to consider a proposed reduction of telephone rates statewide. The plan would affect Greencastle Telephone and Putnam County Telephone companies.

Daniel Peffley a former Putnam county resident died at Culver hospital Crawfordsville at six oclock Tuesday night from complications. He born November 28 1854 in Putnam county son of Abram and Mary Peffley. He married Susan Stokes December 10 1882. He belonged to New Market Christian Church and K of P at New Market. Survived by widow two sons Roscoe Frankfort Richard Crawfordsville eight grandchildren one brother Frank Russellville one sister Mia Whitstone Minnesota. Preceded in death by one son.
A lone bandit robbed the Fleet National Bank and Trust in Plainfield early today escaping with more than 4000 dollars after tying up seven people. Investigators searched Putnam and Hendricks counties for the suspect, who may have fled west on the National Road. a car was found abandoned near Green Castle.
