A number of Putnam county farmers plan to attend the annual agricultural conference at Purdue University from January 12 to 16. County Agent Floyd Milles said a program on re adjustment to current economic conditions will be given the evening of the program, and the annual banquet is scheduled for the first night.

The $2,500 slander suit filed by Charles A. Kedwarters against Charles R. Murray of Brazil was settled out of court for $17 and costs. The verdict included judgment for the plaintiff, who claimed Murray made slanderous remarks about his stone carving ability. Attorney for the plaintiff was Robert T. Brewart.
Two cars were slightly damaged in a collision near Indiana and Walnut Streets about 9 o'clock Tuesday night. The vehicles belonged to Mike Curran and Ernest Rowings. No injuries were reported and Officer George Knauer investigated.

The Census Bureau reports Indiana’s population at 3 238 503 as of April 1930. Indianapolis leads growth with 159 percent rise since 1920, while Fort Wayne Gary South Bend Evansville and other cities add to urban gains. Rural counties mostly decline as urban centers drive the state’s increase.
A filing in Putnam court seeks a 750 dollar judgment against William W Key for nonpayment on a note dated July 17. The suit alleges Key received a machine on hire and failed to pay 900 dollars plus 48.70 costs, leaving 428 dollars due, with 158 dollars attorney’s fees requested.
A hearing occurred in the case of William D. Sprow as receiver for Bower and Mothersbough Clothing Co of Crawfordsville against Elston Bank and Trust Co. Sprow alleges the bank collected full debt while other creditors received only small fractions. The case moved from Montgomery circuit court to Mountain circuit at Covington and then to the current circuit court. Crawfordsville firm was declared bankrupt in March 1929.

A public meeting of the American Legion Putnam Post 68 was held at The Pioneers School building on a December evening. State Adjutant Ole Davis spoke to county veterans while a County Congressman candidate addressed the crowd. Marion township residents attended as pupils and staff presented a program with the Wien School Glee Club performing.
Primetime of Pitman county schools will meet County Superintendent Jota Veruuttbon Saturday to compare pupil standings using mid year tests. Teachers will see Norma or average scores attached to each pupil to evaluate progress and benchmark against state standards established for county and state comparisons. Examinations began today and should be finished by Thursday afternoon.
The Creen cast hage chapter of the Phi Delta Kang fraternity held their annual rabbit and bean dinner at the fraternity rooms Tuesday evening. The meeting started at 7 30 o'clock and was attended by twenty four members of the organization.
Bank holdup at Citizens Bank of Clinton ends in gunfight near Danville after a chase of about seventy miles. Three bandits die from wounds, two are captured, loot recovered. Deputies and police wounded one officer. attackers used a stolen car and heavy machine gun fire before shots killed the robbers.
