Judgment Sought for Back Rent on Bankrupt Cafeteria Building

In Putnam circuit court today Frank Donner as owner of the building on East Washington Street seeks a judgment and possession plus $460 back rent from Guy L Call, owner of the bankrupt Call Cafeteria. The suit claims four months of unpaid rent at $115 a month, with the building held by Marshal D Abrams as receiver.

Ride Victim Identified as Illinois Man

The body found dying on State Road 59 south of Brazil is tentatively identified by a lapel badge as Arnville Bush 25 son of D W Bush Danville. Bush a former pugilist had been working in corn fields near Danville and was suspected of involvement with a beer syndicate in Danville, though no proof was known.

Colored man arrested for alleged theft released in Putnam County

Eugene Miles, 30, of 04 Maple Avenue, was arrested by city police Sunday night on suspicion of stealing clothing from the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority house on South Locust Street during Thanksgiving vacation and released from jail today. Miles says he bought the items from an unknown man. officials doubt his story as no charges were filed.

Greencastle Fire Department Responds to Early Morning Blaze

The Greencastle fire department was called to north Jackson street near the Monon restaurant around 3:80 this morning. A truck owned by Toney Cancilla caught fire in front of the eatery. the blaze was extinguished upon arrival, with only slight damage believed due to defective wiring.

Gillen Names Secretary to Go to Washington

C. C. Gillen announces Terre Haute reporter Marvin Carter as private secretary for his term as congressman-elect in Indiana. Carter, 24, has worked on the Terre Haute Tribune and held Democratic central committee ties. He graduated from Garfield High and Terre Haute Teachers College.
