Three Escapees From Putnam County Jail Likely Aided
Police investigate possible outside help in the Putnam county Jail escape of three inmates. Frank Wallace and Robert Harvey have long crime records. George Hampshire is the third escapee. Harvey is crippled from a leg injury, and a waiting auto may have carried the trio away after someone unlocked the cell block. Hampshire faces charges from a prior crash and is to stand trial December 18.

Convict Dinkla to Face Habeas Corpus Hearing
Garrett Dinkla, 21, inmate at Indiana state reformatory Pendleton, will be taken to Anderson Thursday for a habeas corpus hearing in the Madison Circuit court. A. F. Miles, superintendent, notified James M. Orden, attorney general. Dinkla started a twelve year term for the North Salem bank robbery and was sentenced in Hendricks Circuit court at Danville. His lawyers challenge the Hendricks court's jurisdiction.

Bishop Fisher to Give Beamer Lecture Series
Bishop Frederick B. Fisher, pastor of the First Methodist Church in Ann Arbor, will visit DePauw University to deliver three lectures on Reconstruction of Missions under the Beamer Foundation. A noted authority on Inuit and India, Fisher recently returned from India and counts Gandhi among his close contacts. He holds degrees from Ashbury, Boston University, Harvard, and Wesleyan, and previously served as a Boston pastor and as secretary of Foreign Missions and the Layman’s Missionary Movement.

Dr J L Allen spoke on purposes and program for the Legion and a rabbit dinner followed. Garland talks by Jakie Hirt Charles McGaughey and A J Duff were given.

Former Lena Woman Dies in North Dakota
Mrs Lawrence Murphy of Edgely North Dakota sister of Mrs Earl O H air R R 1 died at her North Dakota home Sunday from typhoid fever. The husband will bring the body to Greencastle arriving Wednesday afternoon. Funeral is set for 2 PM Thursday at McCurry Funeral Home with burial at Brick Chapel cemetery. She leaves a six year old daughter and a sister Mrs T C Cox Bloomington street. Mrs O H air was called to her sister's bedside about a week ago.

Clinton Man Found Dead From Bullet Wounds
Clinton Ind Dec 1 doe Gatherum 26 a former Clinton high school athlete was found shot to death in his automobile south of the city. Coroner Hoffa and Terre Haute officers investigated. The death’s cause uncertain but absence of powder burns suggests murder. A revolver lay in Gatherum’s lap and his car engine ran. He had gone to Terre Haute with Pat Shannon and Arthur Wake, returning with Shannon about 1 am, then headed back toward Terre Haute.

John Pohlman Company versus Allee trial in Putnam Circuit Court
Twenty years ago in Greencastle the case of the John Pohlman Company of Terre Haute against Ww. Allee of Roachdale went on trial in the Putnam circuit court. A judgment of 119.55 is sought for a barrel of whisky and other liquors delivered to Allee’s business. J. P. Allee and S. A. Hays have returned from Martinsville where they have been attorneys in the Hamrick damage suit in Morgan county court. Milo West was called to Pecksburg by the death of his uncle, Diago West. Nine Oclock club members entertained their wives and lady friends Friday night.

Both men and women will attend eight periods of class work in a two day short course on January 6 and 7. In recent years half of attendees were women and girls. There is no charge for the eight instructional periods and the first night entertainment.
Byrd Divorce Suit Seeks Separation in Putnam Court
Averil G. Byrd of Cloverdale files for divorce from Paul Byrd alleging she was treated as a stranger for months. The couple married in March 1926 and separated in November 1930 in Putnam circuit court proceedings.

Woolf v. Pennsylvania Railroad Fires Up In Putnam Court
The case of Phillip Woolf near Brazil versus the Pennsylvania Railroad continued in Putnam circuit court after a June 1929 fire. Woolf seeks 3425 for fire damage to a store building, fixtures, and an outbuilding, with witnesses for both sides and a venue change moving the suit from Clay circuit Court. The trial was expected to reach the jury later today.

Montgomery County grand jury indicts William Buser driver of the school hack from which Joyce Whitlock alighted before being struck and fatally injured by Edgar A. Bumpus. Buser faces first degree manslaughter charges with $2,500 bond set. Bumpus had previously been charged.

Mrs Helen Leonard 24 wife of Lester Leonard of Madison township died Monday afternoon after a short illness of tuberculosis. She leaves her husband two young children Beulah Jean and George Jr and her parents Mr and Mrs James Rogers of Madison township. Funeral services set for Wednesday at 11 in Long Branch church with burial in Long Branch cemetery.

Woman sues Greencastle city over Elm Street bonds
Martha H. Clark of Crawfordsville files suit in Putnam circuit court seeking judgment for two Elm street bonds totaling about 605 dollars.
