Drilling Starts in Wyoming's New Discovery Area
Moab Mines Inc president William J. Owen geologist and the Denver business partner hire Utah Drilling Co to explore twenty eight claims near the Loma Mine four near Kerr McGee and Sam Day ore bodies and five more claims over airborne anomalies found by the Atomic Energy Commission in Converse County twenty miles north of Douglas Wyoming.

Drilling Initiated on Utah Claims After Labor Day Survey
Initial property inspection was conducted by Mr. Owen during Labor Day weekend. Moab Mines, Inc. fieldmen Ronald Seibel and Douglas Penman performed surveys for hot spots using skinillometer traverses. After evaluating the resulting maps, a fence line drilling pattern was chosen and Utah Drilling Company began drilling on September 26, 1955, with up to 10,000 feet anticipated.

Uranium Industry Notes From 1955 Rocky Mountain Conference
Salt Lake City hosts the 1955 Rocky Mountain Minerals Conference with about 500 mining men registered as papers on the mining industry promise a strong program. The Four Corner Uranium Corp area stays active with Apache Uranium and Monte Carlo Uranium Mines reporting drilling northeast of Four Corners, plus Vaughey & Vaughey beginning 7000 feet of drilling nearby. The Multnomah Mining Co of Portland and Ray Drilling Co are active in the region as drilling expands, while V&L Development reports progress in Hay Joe Canyon with ore values rising toward deeper channels, leased from Southern Oil. Thornburg Mining Co sells Spring Canyon to Western Development Co, and AEC monitors from a trailer office near Vernal as Yellow Queen Mining reports good ore from a lease in the Trachyte area east of Henry Mountains.
