The Utah State Soil Conservation Committee met on September 20 and reappointed Chad Moore and Boyd Hunt as Green River Soil Conservation District supervisors. Hunt begins his second term. Moore was appointed last year to fill an unexpired term after Errol Stott resigned. Five local farmers compose the district board, three elected by landowners and two appointed by the state committee. Funeral Services Held For Long Time Resident Irene Jones
Funeral services were held Sunday October 2 at 1 p.m. at Community Presbyterian Church for Irene Jones. An Eastern Star ceremony with Dr. Roth officiating drew a large Green River crowd. Jones was a longtime resident, secretary of the local Eastern Star chapter, Past Matron, and charter Auxiliary member. Survived by husband John E. Jones, son Orville Swanson of Springville Utah, mother Lottie Parton of Green River, sister Sayars of Rifle Colorado, uncle Harry Purdy of Green River, and numerous nieces and nephews. Burial followed at East Green River Cemetery. Also notes PTA plans and school safety reminders, including Back to School Night November 10, Founders Day February 16, and safety guidance for student drop-off areas near the building. Ed. Note: Mr. Gledhill to write weekly Faculty Forum on school activities.

Green River Utah October 6 Uranium Reduction Co today disclosed that a contract had been signed with Utah Power Light Co for delivery of a sizable amount of electric energy to power the firm s eight million dollar uranium mill at Moab J W Burgess Uranium Reduction s general manager of construction said operation of the mill has been tentatively set for the first half of the year The mill now near completion will treat uranium ore to produce a uranium concentrate Burgess said capacity of the new mill will be one of the largest of any new in operation on the Colorado plateau It will employ about 125 people J Newel Stephens Utah Power Light Co southern division manager who received the contract from Uranium Reduction said energy for the mill will be fed through the utility s newly completed two million dollar high voltage lines extending from Helper to Monticello
