Local Greeley items announce a Democratic County Convention for September 29 1885 to nominate candidates for county offices with primaries on September 26. The page reports visits, arrivals, events, meetings, theatre plans, skating rink openings, and civic matters including warrants, subscriptions, and civic notices from September 14 1885.
The firm dissolves by mutual consent. Creditors must settle with W. R. McClellan or note. W R McClellan and Miss Sarah Gippon are named parties in the dissolution.
8 K Thompson declares candidacy as an independent for Justice of the Peace in Precinct 21. The announcement frames a local race focus and personal qualifications.
A citizen petition for a new fire bell was referred to a committee. Permission to deliver artesian water at current rates was granted. A light and water questions committee was formed by Mayor West. A drain petition for 14th avenue was referred to streets committee with power. Greeley Electric Light Co. was granted an ordinance to operate a plant and sell power, under contract terms. Mayor West reported a visit to Golden and a purchase.
Night Watchman Crown pursues two burglars who raided A Jago’s hardware store, recovering a new shotgun and locating loot. The pair fled toward Evans and La Salle, where one man was captured with pocketknives and pistols. The accomplice, arrested in Denver, is to be brought to Greeley. Crown’s actions receive praise.
H B Jackson advertises a large stock of dry goods and fall wear. S H Southard replenishes stock promising variety in style and quality. Lt E Hart promotes a vast single and double harness stock at low prices. J J Stevens, Salomon's block, touts a complete furniture line to furnish homes.
Wild Cherry Tar and Dr Bosanko Cough and Lung Syrup promoted for throat and lung ailments with prices 50 cents and 1.00. Sample offered. Also Honeycomb Spreads advertised as nearly sold out. Weld County Wool Growers call meeting Oct 5 at 2 pm to choose delegates for the state association. J F Gipps and Edward Packarp as officers.
