Judge Garrigues Sentences Johnson Three Years In Prison
In Denver last week Judge James E. Garrigues presided over the trial of E. M. Johnson, president of the Fidelity Savings association. Johnson was found guilty of wrecking the association and sentenced to from two to three years in state prison. He was remanded to Sheriff Nisbet for custody at the county jail pending supersedeas or release via the supreme court. Sixty days were set for appeal.

George Cooke drum corps visits Greeley before Frontier Day
The George Cooke drum corps of about fifty dressed as zouaves played in Lincoln park then near the depot before a special Cheyenne-bound train. A miscommunication caused G A R handbills to announce Commander King and the Denver drum corps arrival at 10 am, conflicting with a 7:25 am rail schedule, leaving many disappointed while about two thousand gathered at the depot for the free performance.

Ernest Copeland of Denver aged about 12 visited grandparents at 1313 Tenth Avenue. He ate a quart of dill pickles and ice cream, fell unconscious, and required a stomach pump and medical care to survive. Dr Dyde treated him after a mild poisoning from likely stale pickles.
