Five Checks Furnish Greeley Shops a Forgery Tale
About three months of thefts ended Monday night when five local merchants lost 315 total to a smooth con man posing as a customer. The forger, known as Ben Rodgers or B C Roberts, cashed four more checks for 17 50 at Wilson grocery Flag Clothing Jacobs meat market Model Market and Park Merchandise Co and bought small items before vanishing. Bank officers tracked the fraud to F J Somers whose name appeared on the forged instrument. The suspect, a 25 year old farm worker with a limp and missing toes, is sought in Denver after investigators traced the case, while Mrs Acnetta Hesford travels home from Denver with her son C B Hesford.
