Sophomore Class Holds Hard Times Party At Hill Home
The Sophomore class from the local high school held a joyful hard times party Friday evening at the Pleasant valley country home of Mr. and Mrs. B. S. Hill. Grace and Russell Hill are among the sophomores. Attendees wore odd costumes and played games both indoors and outdoors under Japanese lanterns. An impromptu musical program accompanied refreshments served in hard times style for about forty five participants.

No Sunday Papers Here Delinquent Tax List Bid
Greeley county commissioners awarded delinquent tax list publication to the Pioneer as the lowest bidder. The Sun, the next lowest bidder, will handle the list only if it qualifies as a legal daily publication. Colorado law requires a daily or twenty six weeks six days weekly publication for legal notices.

Schmit Under Bonds In Abduction And Bigamy Case
William Schmit, a LaSalle blacksmith, accused of abandoning one woman and marrying another, appeared before Judge Stevens in Greeley and was bound over to the district court in $500 with John Mosehar as surety. The case, in which all parties are Russians, is set for October 26. W. L. Booright of Denver represents Schmit.

Fortieth Anniversary Meeting Brings Unity to Colorado Congregationalists

Brotherhood Banquet Highlights Church Service
The Central Presbyterian church brotherhood of Denver held a banquet in the church basement with young helpers serving splendidly. Toastmaster Sweet thanked the youths for their service as two short talks followed, led by C. S. Watson on “A Brotherhood That Does Things” and Rev. John C. Page on the history of church missions.

Weiser Fruit Send Sample to Tribune
A sample basket of assorted fruit was sent to the Tribune by Mrs. Fannie Burges of Weiser Idaho once of the Greeley district. The sender intended the Tribune receive a share from F W Meyers. Burges owns eighty acres near Weiser and plans to sell forty. He has eight acres of orchard and shipped 4300 crates of plums to Chicago. The Weiser region is hailed as the greatest fruit country.

Scalding Accident At Sugar Plant Costs worker Life
Daniel Wilson of 723 Thirteenth Street died at Greeley hospital after a diffusion battery incident at the sugar plant. A door to cell No 6 failed, releasing hot water and pulp at 85 degrees, throwing him into a pit and causing fatal asphyxiation. Wilson, 51, left a wife and four children.

Youthful miner Sam Skidmore dies in Kansas mine
Telegram from Osage Kansas reports 16 year old Sam Skidmore killed in a coal mine. He was nephew of Mesdames J A Grindle and G P Struble and had many friends in Greeley from visits there. Details of the accident are not yet known.
