Floodwaters, streets, and cellars remained dangerously high through the night, with reparations and river-diversion efforts underway as authorities assessed the extensive damage and unusual rainfall—1.38 inches, a regional record.

Tragic Drowning of Windsor Toddler in Posthole
The three year old daughter of Mr and Mrs Richard Lee of Windsor fell into a water filled posthole in the yard last Wednesday evening. Found by the mother, she was pronounced dead after a two hour medical effort failed to revive her.

The ninth grade team won the one-half mile relay in 1:43 2-5. The tenth grade scored 60 1-3 points, the ninth 33 1-3 points, and the eleventh 14 1-3 points.
State Normal School Graduates Board Visit
The examining board for the graduates is at the State Normal school with Dr. Z X Snyder president Miss Katherine Craig state superintendent and F Spencer superintendent of Rio Grande county. Spencer visits Greeley for first time since 1892 and was in the first class of 1891 when the school was housed in the Weld county courthouse. The next year the first wing was completed and the school moved there.

Washout Halts UP Trains Near Fort Morgan
A washout on the Julesburg branch of the Union Pacific near the mouth of Wildcat creek blocked eastbound trains. Trains to Omaha and other points east were routed via Greeley. A sheep train from LaSalle was redirected back to Fort Morgan and rerouted via Cheyenne after the washout caused a flood.
