Greeley Band Benefit Excursion Triumph on Moffat Route

The Tribune organized a May excursion on Union Pacific and Moffat lines for the Greeley band fund concerts in the park. The trip drew a sizable if imperfect crowd, raised the fund to 93.25, and inspired plans for two more runs to Eldora and the Moffat route. Prizes awarded to top ticket sellers included a writing desk, a rifle, and a riding bridle.

Beautify the City: Greeley Club Seeks Civic Progress

The Greeley Commercial club held its monthly meeting and luencheon at the Armory with about sixty couples present. Speakers urged beautification, clean up campaigns, and infrastructure improvements while Col White recalled Memorial Day.

Captain B D Harper dies after stroke in Greeley

Funeral held for Brainard D Harper longtime banker and civic leader born in Greenfield Ohio December 10 1841. He served in the Twenty fifth Iowa infantry and later organized First National Bank of Greeley and then presided over Union National Bank. Survived by wife foster daughter and two sisters. Also notes a new two story armory for Greeley to be built at Seventh Avenue and Tenth Street with space for Company D G A R and state interest.

Local confectionery stand changes hands amid moves uptown

George Morgan sold his 717 Eighth avenue confectionery stand to Mr and Mrs Will Spere. He also bought Joseph Woolfs home at 811 Sixth street. The Woolfs will travel east in a few days and likely be away all summer.

Census Shows City School Age Child Increase

Miss Lena Pleak completes the city school census reporting 111 more school age children than last year. Last year there were 1,630. this year 1,741 are counted.

Greeley Plans Fourth of July Parade and Concert

The Commercial club outlines a parade featuring the fire department the Greeley band the Elks and other lodges in the morning. In the afternoon a performance by the driving club at Island Grove park. Evening concert by the Greeley band in the park with fireworks rules noted by Mayor Green.

Country Roads Impassable Due to Days of Rain

Prolonged rainfall has left rural routes nearly blocked, hindering travel and transport. Officials warn motorists to seek alternate paths and expect delays as washouts and flooding affect main arteries. Local crews monitor conditions and deploy barriers where necessary.

Memorial services were held last Sunday morning in the opera house for the benefit of G. A. R. W. R. C. and Company D members. Rev. Frank Barnett of the Baptist church delivered the sermon as a city school choir directed by Prof. J. R. Waiteman provided music for the event.

Memorial Day Observed In Greeley At Linn Grove Cemetery

Memorial Day services in Greeley featured the U S Grant Post G A R lining a guard of honor for the Woman's Relief Corps at the armory and escorting carriages to Linn Grove. Speakers included Col C A White Prof Thomas and City Schools Superintendent Charles E Carter, with music from a local drum corps and a firing squad salute.

Busy Graduation Week at Greeley High School

The Greeley high school class prepares for exams and commencement. President Barton O Aylesworth of Fort Collins Agricultural College delivers the class sermon. Seniors Lloyd Neill and Hilda Smith lead in honors with 201 and 200 points respectively while Ruth Flint follows. A class banquet and commencement address by Rabbi Friedman of Denver cap the celebrations.

Robbing Post Boxes: 13 Year Old Arrested

Ben Fortune, thirteen, was arrested by Deputy Sheriff Cartto on charges of robbing letter boxes at the post office. He admitted taking letters and extracting money from them, with federal authorities now handling the prosecution. Mr Camp was entrusted by postal authorities to uncover the culprits.

Col White Receives Massachusetts Medal of Honor

Col. C A White was awarded a bronze Massachusetts Medal of Honor as an early responder to Lincoln's 1861 call for volunteers. The pin reads Massachusetts Minute Men 1861 with the state seal, and the obverse honors members mustered into U S service on Lincoln's first call. Edge inscription names Charles A White Company A Third regiment.
