Judge hallett rules water rights dispute between Wyoming and Colorado
Federal judge Moses Hallett grants a permanent injunction restraining the Divide Ditch Company of Colorado from diverting Sand Creek waters that naturally feed the Laramie River in Wyoming. The case traces to 1867 grants and a 1902 filing after a drought that ruined crops for Wyoming settlers. About 6000 acres were affected as Sand Creek waters were diverted via Sheep Creek into the North Poudre River.

Starch Plants Nearing Operation as Potatoes Sell Fast
Two new starch factories in Colorado near completion will run within days, with the Greeley Ice and Light plant slated to operate late this week and the neighboring Colorado Starch facility to open in a couple of weeks. The plants and current shipments are expected to handle at least 500 car loads of potatoes this spring, helping melt the regional surplus. Last week about 600 carloads were shipped, and an average of 500 carloads weekly is projected until marketing of the crop concludes. If 4,000 carloads remain, marketing will take several weeks.
