Ault prospers as settlers flood in from Boulder and Eaton. Local developers plan water supply schemes and reservoirs in a push to extend irrigation and fuel a building surge. New two story brick business blocks and street additions reflect the town’s rapid expansion toward a city water works and electric plant.
A column praises Justice G O Stevens for offering private parlors for quick ceremonies as an advertising gambit. The piece suggests other justices and ministers imitate the approach, proposing special bargain days, prize incentives, and odd kissing hours to keep marriages local instead of seeking Cheyenne or Denver.

A new pamphlet campaign in Greeley urges residents to shop locally to boost Weld County’s prosperity. Manager H. C. Casner leads the effort, echoing Colorado Springs tactics to curb Denver mail orders. The flyer touts lower local prices, local taxes, and the community benefits of circulating money at home.
The Weld County Farmers league of Pleasant Valley plans a farmer's institute at the school house on Saturday March 11. Speakers include Profs Carlyle Paddock and Olin from the State Agricultural College. Topics cover the value of Colorado grains for stock feeding potato diseases and selecting grains for seed.
On a farm near the city John Emerson, six and a half miles north west, a new Colorado hen lays three eggs at a time. Mrs. Emerson submitted what may be the biggest curiosity yet in barnyard eggs. The exterior shell surpassed a turkey egg in size, but held two regular eggs inside. One remained, the other broken to reveal its contents. Very little meat in either inner egg, making them unlikely for cooking though fit for museum display or side show.
The house stock committee favored Mr Baer's bill granting the state board of stock inspection power to compel dipping of cattle for mange and other infectious diseases. Secretary McCrillis State Veterinarian Lamb and Secretary Johnson urged passage in both chambers. The measure would let the board compel removal of uncooperative cattle and sell part to cover costs.
Greeley officials consider a 3000 sale of ground once set aside as railroad avenue to fund a library. Union Colony and the railroad would relinquish claims while the city vacates the street. railroad yard relocation could follow if orders are approved. Railroad crossings may also be closed to ease requirements.
Pat Haley was arrested a few days ago and Thursday arraigned in Windsor on a charge of selling liquor without a license. He was held to the next term of the district court and sent to jail in lieu of an $8500 bond.
The February gathering in Unity church parlors drew 92 members and launched city water talks. Mayor Watson outlined past aims to secure mountain water, failures due to court rulings, and the push to the Poudre river. Proponents backed shared costs for a new system while endorsing State Engineer Carpenter for reappointment and considering a December poultry show.
Stella Houghton of St Louis asks The Tribune to help locate her 18 year old son Robert Jones who has not written since last November. She fears he may be near Greeley in the sheep business or herding sheep and holds money, raising concern he may be harmed or frozen to death. He is described as large and fat with dark hair grey eyes one gold front tooth and one false tooth. Any information should be left at this office for relay to the mother.
A hard fought match between Normal school and Wheatridge High of Denver ended with no clear winner as three score tallies varied. Referee George Nelson awarded the victory to Wheatridge though home officials and spectators disagreed on the final tally.
The Tribune offers 500 packages of mixed sweet pea seed to readers who cut out a coupon and bring it to the office next Saturday after 1 pm. A summer prize will be awarded for the first two flowers grown from the seed that are exactly alike except for white flowers.
E B Coggeshall advertising manager of Western Poultry World spoke to Greeley business men about a Northern Colorado Poultry show to be staged in Greeley within sixty days. A Loveland exhibition was recently successful and the Commercial club may adopt the plan soon.
A new town lies 12 miles north of Ault named Maynard to honor the first man who settled near the area. The designation reflects local respect for early pioneers and marks the community’s origin.
