Greeley Commercial club directors set a February 27 banquet at the Camfield hotel with taxes as the sole discussion topic. The session opens to county taxpayers including the assessor and commissioners, aiming to hear critics and defenders of levies and clear public doubt.
Roberson's Inside Paris travelogue drew a large crowd at the Methodist church with an engaging talk and vivid pictures. No event tonight as the church hosts other purposes, but Tomorrow the series features Outside Paris. An extra Panama matinee is set for Saturday at 3 30 p m and a Friday 4 15 p m showing of Japan images concludes the week.
Miss Myrtle Haskins of Evans was in Greeley on Tuesday. M. H. Brink returned Tuesday from Ault.
In county court Judge Bradfield ruled Ella J. versus Hannah J. Dawley Estate. The plaintiff sought about 84 000 from a will granting 700 yearly for 26 years. The court awarded 600 yearly for 25 years with simple interest totaling about 30 000, treating the will as a contract. Defendants may appeal.
Judge Graham grants a new trial in Walter Chandler vs Pierce Irrigation Co. upholding a 14 to 20 foot bridge standard under old and new statutes. The decision averts repeal of the older law, ensuring bridges under 20 feet remain lawful. Chandler previously won $1,700 in damages out of a $14,500 claim for a 1999 incident.
The Sodal ity of St. Peter s church will host a Valentine dance in Camfield hall on Tuesday February 14. Organizers promise a delightful evening with new novelties and busy committees. Proceeds will go to the church building fund.

Because crowds are growing two rooms on the upper floor will be used, with Miss Lucile Allard and Miss Louise Gumner entertaining. Children will gather at a quarter past four, split into two groups, and stories told in adjoining rooms. Mothers may attend.
Denver report says James K. Houghton, mayor of Ault, Colorado, killed himself rather than face charges for passing bad checks. He died at St. Luke's Hospital after firing a shot in Kaiserhof hotel room before Detective McNeil arrived. He was 35, survived by a wife and two sons.
Funeral services for Grandma Dunham were held at the Presbyterian church with Rev. R. J. Hunter officiating in the forenoon. A quartet supplied music including Mrs J B McCutcheon and others. A hymn Mrs Dunham often read during illness was shared, and floral tributes came from Greeley and other parts of the state.
A Mothers' Congress session is set for Friday at 3 PM in the City Library assembly room. Miss Cannell of the Normal will discuss the value of storytelling to the child, followed by a discussion on diet and clothing of school children led by Mrs Bonell and Mrs Russell. All mothers and teachers are invited.
One of the best entertainments on the Christian Endeavor course features the Olde Towne Quartet at the Christian church on Friday evening February 10. The program includes new solos duets trios and quartets with readings and crayon work for a varied pleasing show.
A Greeley hospital has treated four year old Everett Phillips after severe burns requiring three skin grafts. His left leg is shorter than the right and must be broken at the knee, with a fourth operation planned when he gains strength. Both parents previously donated skin for grafts.
Dr. J Merrill came back Tuesday from Denver where he visited his friend Dr. Zink a federal inspector of Loveland who had undergone an appendicitis operation Monday at Mercy hospital.
Grace Klaster was elected president of the W. T. K. club with Dora Keyes as vice president and Helen Starr as recording secretary and treasurer. Other board members include FE Nusbaum and Calvin Thomas with Miss Cannell. Thirty ladies attended the library room luncheon as pink and white decor highlighted the valentine theme.
Mrs W O Wright entertained ten Ramona club ladies at 1422 Eighth Avenue on Tuesday afternoon. The Valentine gathering featured fancy work and a fishing for valentines game followed by refreshments and heart deco rations. Souvenir valentines served as place cards.
Marriage licenses have been granted to Ray F. Montgomery and Nora Sullivan of Gilcrest, J. H. Sherwood of Greeley and Frances F. Miller of LaSalle, Carson C. Cope and Selma E. Swanson of Windsor.
Eaton February meeting debated extending the Great Western Sugar railroad into the Crow Creek district. A committee of Wilson McClenahan Phillips Park Jones will go to Denver to present the plan to sugar company officers. Another group of about a dozen will visit farmers to secure beet acreage.
A week after the death of her husband from pneumonia Mrs. W. E. Gillespie and her three children contracted scarlet fever. The two daughters fell ill earlier in the week and today the mother and remaining child were stricken. The illnesses are described as mild this season.
Windsor Reservoir company stockholders voted 654 to 217 to buy Reservoir No. 8 from Bruce Eaton for 220000 dollars with a bond mortgage remaining on the property. The purchase secures water for the Eaton ditch and may double the company’s stock value.
John B. Williams, project engineer for the United States Reclamation Service, will visit Greeley tomorrow morning at the Commercial club. He plans to meet all those who have talked with his representative about service positions. His headquarters will be at the Camfield hotel's Greeley Commercial club rooms.
