Porcupine Scrapper Brought In After Battle
Eaton August 28. J Halterman met a porcupine on the road and fought it for about an hour. His dog was injured by quills while the animal charged him. Halterman killed the porcupine with a club after a tense encounter.

Big Pea Crop Goes to Seed in Ault
In Ault on August 28, a large pea crop is being threshed for seed after the pea huller reached capacity. About 500 acres are being harvested this week with vines pulled and peas bagged by the hundred pounds. Seed will be turned to Empson Caning company and distributed next year to farmers at four dollars per hundred.

Ault Woman Ends Life Over Alleged Abuse
Ault on Aug 28 a 25 year old woman identified as Exelie Dupuis, wife of Harry Meyers, drank carbolic acid to end a life she found unbearable. She left letters blaming Meyers and addressed her father Moses Dupuis on the Colville reservation. Deputy Coroner AF Nutt investigated and Meyers is jailed awaiting word from the father.

State Teachers College to Open With Record Attendance
Prospects point to the fall term opening September 3 at State Teachers College bringing the greatest attendance in its history. Housing is filled on College Hill and nearby rooming houses, while President Snyder notes stronger education, larger training and more entries in high school and grades. Improvements include a 1000 seat assembly room, renovated toilets with showers, four new fire escapes, and other minor upgrades to ready the campus for the opening next Tuesday.

Nunn Land Holders Meet Over Irrigation District Projects
Nunn, Aug. 28. Dr Parker of Pierce and William Pulliam of Nunn, among other landowners, attended the Greeley Poudre Irrigation district board meeting with D A Camfield and D E Carpenter to hear progress on completing the system. Funds, expected after the July 13 election, faced delays in Chicago but are hoped to be secured soon. The Northern Colorado Developments company must finish by December. Three fourths of the system is built. Crops are excellent this season, with homesteaders reporting higher yields and plans to store produce for winter. Last year many farmers faced destitution after crop failure. water abundance would have filled reservoirs, McGrew reservoir currently holding some water.
