City officials approved an oiling program for portions of Ninth and surrounding avenues after a petition from businessmen. A suspension was lifted, a Texas oil was chosen after tests, and preparations will start with a thorough investigation. Sidewalk work and related improvements were authorized, with notices to be published in five newspapers.
Aug 14. This morning TS went out to get the ore and saw Mrs. Edie wife of the regular mail carrier in Weld. The husband is on vacation and she has relieved him. The route is over 30 miles, southeast of LaSalle. Mr Edie bought an auto, but Mrs. Edie prefers a horse for the long drive.
Ault Aug 14 Alex Norris returned from Springfield Missouri with bride Miss Cora Laney after telegraphing for her to Denver The ceremony occurred Monday in Denver The newlyweds were serenaded at their return by local youths with music and refreshments supplied Norris works as a painter Miss Laney had visited Ault last summer.
R C G Schmalling aged 74 died last night after a three day illness. Born in Germany and educated, he taught in Germanium um and later became a Kansas school principal. He and his family moved to Platteville eight years ago and farmed since. Body sent to Greeley. funeral arrangements not set.
In Johnstown on August 14 records are being set as farmers log wheat yields. Robert Taylor, west of town, threshed 72 bushels per acre from 28 acres of Red Cross fall wheat, with 64 bushels per acre on a 25 acre plot. Grain is large and quality high. local elevators plan to buy.
Johnstown on August 14 reports C L Weidman and B F Hall have leased the Milliken Mail from H M Porter for one year Weidman will oversee management of both the Johnstown Breeze and the Milliken Mail.

Johnstown readers learn two carloads of grade and registered Holsteins from New York will arrive in late September, boosting the condensery's herd to about 900 cows. J P Frost will supply the milkers, while the plant plans to expand daily output from 5 000 to 18 000 pounds. The operation currently milks over 600 cows daily with output around 2 500 cans or 50 cases. The Columbine and Red Cross brands ship statewide and nationwide.
Police say evidence against John Featherstone alias Peter Dillon, a suspected killer, is not yet conclusive. Mrs. Chase and son Arthur travel by auto with Granville Hamnett, leaving Monday August 26. Rev. Chase attends the church annual conference at Canon City before heading to Oklahoma City.
Platteville, Aug 14. Farmers west of Platteville threaten to petition the county commissioners unless the Lockard bridge washed out by high water is quickly repaired. With only two bridges across the St Vrain west of Platteville, one distant from southwest farmers, locals must drive to Longmont for supplies instead of Platteville.
Fort Lupton officials and residents raised 500 dollars at a finance committee meeting to fund prize money and decorations for Tomato Day. Organizer R A Wrightmire said securing the funds removes financial hurdles, with donations from merchants and citizens continuing. The group includes W J Hubbel D C Moore Howard McDonald and several Mrs. Standon and Mrs. Rhode. Mountain raspberries are ripe in Eldora and cabins for September rental are advertised by C H Wolfe at the Tribune.
Jared L Brush Jr son of Governor J L Brush married Vertie Moore a Pratt Kan girl this morning at 7 30 in the Methodist parsonage. The couple left for Estes Park after a brief reception and will reside in Greeley after September 5.
The Frontier Days celebration opened in Cheyenne with a special Denver excursion train bringing visitors this morning. A motorcycle caravan of 50 plus riders from the south passed through Greeley en route to Cheyenne, many accompanied by wives seated behind on the bikes.
Aug 14 report urges more men to join in the district to assist with the second cutting of alfalfa and prevent hay losses. Farmers can use about fifty additional workers as many are currenty bailing. Threshing outfits are short of help and the wheat crop will not be harvested as soon as expected this week.
Antony Va hulia, a farmer, was arrested in Platteville yesterday on a charge of flooding the road. He received a $10 fine plus costs from Judge Cuykendahl. This marks the tenth arrest in the district for this offense.
