Child Struck by Lightning in Windsor Beet Field

In Windsor on August 7 Mary Propp four year old daughter of Fred Propp, a German beet worker, was struck by lightning while drinking water from a bucket in a beet field on Mrs Flora Law's farm. The bolt struck her head, burned her dress, circled her heart, and left her unconscious for hours before recovery. The child was following her mother when the incident occurred.

Mystery in Cottingham Sickness in Eaton

Eaton August 7 mystery surrounds C P Cottingham who was found unconscious in his cigar store by Marshal Reger. He was taken to Greeley hospital and could not explain his condition. No injuries found. Cottingham had closed his store months earlier and returned Saturday to settle affairs. A Missouri brothel has been telegraphed and will arrive in Greeley tomorrow.

Mount Morrison Incline Ride Excursion Promises Grand Colorado Views

Tribune sponsors a Sunday trip to Mount Morrison featuring the world’s longest incline railway. Depart Greeley at 8 am via Denver Laramie line, with $2.25 for the ascent ride and park admission. Oiled Streets for business district advances in Greeley

City council approves a large oiling plan for downtown streets with Ninth Avenue three blocks from the city hall Eighth Avenue two and a half blocks and Seventh Eighth and Ninth between Eighth and Ninth streets. Property owners face about 30 cents a front foot cost and sidewalks on Eighth Street will be elevated to conform to grade. A Texas oil representative spoke on road oiling costs and street preparation.

Child Hurt In Hay Field At LaSalle

Aug. 7 LaSalle. Julia Thornburg nine, daughter of James Thornburg, rode a hay sled when two horses attached began to run. She jumped and fractured her right leg in two places below the knee. Dr Vance attended. The girl had seen men dragging hay on John Mosier farm nearby and rode the sled.

Water rights ruling blocks reservoir for non consumptive use

Fort Collins Aug 7 Judge Graham rules Hoffman Milling Co holds priority water rights in the Poudre watershed. The decree bars Windsor Reservoir Co from an agreement to coal Fort Collins Milling in exchange for 60 feet of river water until Hoffmans 50 foot secondary appropriation is satisfied. Injured man J H Belo moved home from Greeley hospital after cuts from a mower accident.

Progressive Republicans nominate slate in Colorado primaries

Leaders of the progressive Republicans in Colorado have agreed on a September primary ticket. The slate includes Governor Philip B. Stewart, U S Senator Merle D. Vincent, Attorney General Benjamin Griffith, Supreme Court Justice James Starkweather, Secretary of State E C Bacon, Treasurer O D Cass, Congressman at Large Clarence P Dodge and Karl A Bickel, and Representatives A A Lee and Van Buskirk. Regents B P Smith and Dr Snyder also named, with other races pending. If defeated they may run independent or align with Bull Moose, but expect victory over the Taft faction. Gasoline prices rise one cent per gallon nationwide, Denver from 16 to 17 cents, boosting oil revenues.
