A fragmentary report notes a mine labor dispute involving C Smith and Bartholdi in a tent beside a town where Smith and his wife were sleeping. An officer was notified after an automobile sighting. Deputies took Bartholdi to Greeley and he was jailed for the offense.
Residents of the area back a new road project linking two routes across the Horseshoe fork near Grand, with a push to complete the Colorado Transcontinental alignment. A postponed game tomorrow stalls a LaSalle baseball clash with Milliken, as fund-raising supports a new grandstand for 18 stands.

Representative sugar men from the west toured the Guernsey dairy on the H. D. Parker farm in Auburn. Six auto loads arrived from Greeley with figures like William Petrikin of Denver Hans Mendelssohn sugar beet expert from Montana and William Hogarty of the Longmont factory. They advocate cows on beet farms citing increased tonnage and richer soil from manure as they plan visits to Littleton Kersey and Eaton.
Johnstown July 31 town board to award the contract for building the water system. Four bids ranged from 154 to 22000 with more bids expected tonight. Upon award work begins on the embankment for the reservoir west of town and a pipeline will connect the reservoir to town delivering water at specified pressure.
The Democratic county assembly names Hubert Reynolds for Senator and Charles T. Philp for Representative with a slate across Weld County. It endorses Shafroth and Thomas for U.S. Senate terms, urges direct primaries and recall, and pledges an economical, honest county administration while attacking Republican leadership and corruption.
Milliken July 21 Arguleto will not draw a knife again to enforce his arguments on Sebasco. He was fined 25 dollars but jailed for lack of payment. The justice remitted the fine and charged costs to the Mexican. Arguleto pulled a knife on Sebasco after an alleged flirtation at a Mexican dance in Johnstown Saturday night.
Hardin July 31 hailstorm raged an hour destroying wheat and barley, with hail up to hen egg size. Wheat beaten and fields level with ground near Kuner and Empire reservoir. Twenty five cattle killed by lightning on Andrew Mackey’s land. Corn stripped near Kuner. sweet clover flattened. Fort Lupton and nearby towns report heavy rain. overall severe crop damage anticipated.
The Greeley alumni of the University of Colorado will hold a meeting Monday August 5 at 8 p m in the county courthouse to elect officers for the next year. Speakers from the university are expected and a close race is anticipated among candidates including Judge John T Jacobs and Judge C E Southard for president, with others in contention for the funds custodian post.
Heavy rains Tuesday evening drenched Plainview causing 50 to 60 million gallons of water to run into Sheep Draw and the No 3 ditch. The Ben Landrum ranch reservoir washed out while wheat was flattened by wind. Deboo Briggs Baxgb er and others suffered crop losses as potatoes and beans were washed from the ground. The Boomerang lateral of the Greeley and Loveland ditch overflowed, washing out private bridges on surrounding ranches.
Fort Lupton July 31 A petition circulates for a new Union Pacific depot addressed to Robert S Lovett president of the company with over 100 signatures by noon. The town needs a depot. the current structure is old and crime ridden with depots past. Misses Mabel Johnson Orpha Hall and Verna Davidson plan a two week trip to Eldorado Springs for vacation.
