Community notices from Greeley and nearby Fort Collins report arrests, elections, business openings, and social events. Highlights include jail terms, tax deadlines, new bank plans, Masonic hall progress, Easter plans, and a carload of carriages for sale.
Journal reports W S McCutcheon eyeing a return to the area. A large turnout attended Monday’s rink opening with over 100 skaters. Farmers are忙 in fields, wheat nearing finish, drills in use, plowing not yet started. A town resident in a rented home vows to build in three weeks if prohibition passes, or move to Greeley if liquor licenses prevail.
A wide area near Fort Collins was sown to wheat last week. Three inches of snow fell Sunday but melted by noon Monday. Evangelist Rev. Thomas Marsh from Australia has moved to Fort Collins with his family to settle permanently. Bill Taylor reported three mail bags full of letters.
In a public message, As. J. Armstrong says he will stand aside if the people choose another and will support Major Williams. He offers advice and best wishes for Williams' success and thanks supporters from past years.
A Saturday town caucus at the Court House drew a large crowd to nominate town officers. J B Flower was elected Chairman and FE P House Secretary, as the meeting discussed debt, tax levies, and potential bonding to cover indebtedness.
At the town meeting candidates were nominated for mayor trustees and town offices. West named H T West for mayor. L Roy Mansfield and O P Gale for trustees. Johns for northwest quarter and Watson for northeast quarter. McDonald reappointed town recorder. Marsh considered for town clerk. Williams elected street supervisor. Major Williams secured nomination for street supervisor and pound master. committee members chosen as F B Smith H B Jackson and Frank Frost.
A year after a mock assault case Greeley High School staged another trial this time charging Grace Norcross with burglary at the Flower and Petrikin store. The trial before Judge Mumpers is set for April 10 with Prosecution led by Messrs Frazier and Davis and Defendants by Monahan and Durkee. The defendant awaits trial in custody as supporters seek acquittal amid potential malice claims. A Vienna circus scene closes the report with a lion attack on the lion tamer.
