Experimental Spud Farm Opens Near Greeley
Prof Bennett of the Agricultural college arranged a ten acre lease with Mayor Houston on the hill farm outside Greeley where 106 potato varieties will be planted from around the world. The state funds a $10 000 appropriation for potato experiments and stations will also be set up at Palmer Lake Carbondale Montrose Middle Park and the San Luis valley with seed sold to growers. The college plans to prove culled potatoes as feed worth more than current values by testing on hogs sheep and cattle.
