Death of Mrs Elizabeth Studebaker Witwer in South Bend
Mrs Elizabeth Studebaker Witwer born May 1829 in Pennsylvania died April 22 in South Bend Indiana. She was the oldest surviving Studebaker, mother of twelve with nine living, grandmother to twenty three and great grandparents eleven, with one brother and two sisters. Funeral at daughter Mrs Kopscay home with sons as pallbearers. A descendant gathering last year marked her 79th birthday.

A three hour sandstorm swept Beebe Draw causing severe damage to farm buildings hayracks and a coal house at the Baptist church. Arthur Wright’s claim shanty toppled while gardens were sanded or seeds blown out. Dust filled the air reducing visibility to a short distance.
