Insects Increase Affecting Colorado Crops This Spring

Colorado growers report rising pest activity across several counties. Tuber flea beetles infest early potatoes in Weld, tomato psyllid eggs appear on potatoes, green peach and rosy apple aphids surge on apples and pears in Delta and Mesa counties, and alfalfa weevil and grasshopper populations grow in the southwest. First summer sprays begun in Mesa on May 21 and in Delta on June 4.

Commission Approves Fort Lewis A and M Projects in Durango

The Colorado Manning Commission approved three Fort Lewis A and M projects in Durango including an academic building, a gymnasium, and utilities. Total spending authorized reached $915,022 with $585,730 for the building, $219,750 for the gym, and $110,542 for utilities. The college already has land for the Durango campus and has donated resources toward the project.
