Mayor William Mayher, actively supervising a sidewalk project at the courthouse grounds, secured county funding after promising to oversee the job for free. Once a stone worker in Greeley, he directs crews to lower the northeast corner sidewalk to grade, braving heat and rain as he keeps a keen eye on progress.
Mrs William Reed came back to Greeley from Rockwell City Ta where she laid the remains of William Reed in the family burial vault. She will remain in the city with her son. A party of young people leaves today for Estes Park for a vacation at Mr Woodbury's summer cottage. Miss Sadie Miller chaperones the group including Alberta Condon Margaret McArthur Bernice Ramsay Rispah Allen Lila Long Gladys Camfield Marion VanSickle Katherine Goodman Elizabeth Draper and Mabel Rowe.
Advices from Denver indicate new Salvation Army officers will reach Greeley Wednesday to fill vacancies created by Captain and Mrs. M. F. Murphy. The Murphys depart for Pueblo where the captain will lead a Congregational church. Their warm friendship is deeply regretted by many in Greeley.
Sixteen fellows were appointed for the next school year by the faculty. Each will be paid 300 dollars for the year and work half time in teaching and half time in studies. Names include Katherine Hale and Elsie Mabee among several in grades from kindergarten to high school, plus specialists in physical training art music language and science.
Mrs O C Williams and her son arrived for an extended visit with Mrs Henry Rankin. Miss Marion Cook leaves for San Francisco to take a domestic science post in the city schools. Rev D Cook, her father, is a minister in the Episcopal church. Rev Hawley of Ioma Colorado and his daughter Miss Margaret leave after attending the Normal commencement. Miss Margaret, a graduate, will spend three months in California for vacation.
The Denver, Laramie and Northwestern Railroad invites a Sunday excursion June 18 from Greeley to Tolland and Corona over the Moffat road. Depart 6:45 AM from Greeley, return 6 PM from Tolland, arriving 9:16 PM. Fare $2.50 round trip with child discounts and optional Corona add-on for $1.50. Schedule lists stops and times, promising scenery and a five to six hour stay at Tolland.
Temporary equipment from the old building is being moved today into the new Guggenheim building at the Teachers' College. The 56 by 118 foot three story facility, a gift from Senator Guggenheim, will house industrial arts with specialized rooms for joinery, printing, metalwork, art, and pottery.
The Denver Chamber of Commerce notes applications from high school boys aged sixteen to nineteen seeking farm work during vacation months. It asserts benefits for boys and farmers and invites farmers to write to W. W. Griswold, Chairman, P O box 1605, Denver, Colorado, to consider these applicants.

The Greeley Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution will hold the picnic and monument unveiling next week on Thursday June 22 at Fort St. Vrain. The event was moved from Flag Day June 14 due to monument readiness delays. Flag Day will be observed in Greeley with flags displayed on buildings, though public observance may be limited as many school children are away or schools closed.
Mrs. L. L. Breckenridge and her daughter traveled by auto to Greeley from Longmont after a two week visit with her father A. D. Holts. They will return to Twin Falls Idaho today.
Peterson the peanut man reports last Friday night vandals smashed all windows of his stand. Police assist as he pledges a $100 reward for the conviction of those responsible, suspected to be intoxicated hoodlums.
The first children's play garden opens in Greeley with Miss Marion B. Brink and Miss Clara Peery caring for children during vacation mornings from 8 30 to 11 at 814 Fifth Street. They plan open air kindergarten games and will also provide after school care by appointment. Contact Red 183.
The Are Goers won both games in a doubleheader against D. and R. G. with clear margins. Key players led scoring and defense helping secure the pair of victories.
The Spuds beat D and R G 12 to 4 and 7 to 4 as Tony La Salle dazzled with a stop and throw before an on field collision left him with a stitched nose. Marsh, Mitchell and Gormley shifted positions for the second game. Trinidad comes to town Thursday at 3 pm as the top coal miner team in the state boosts its lineup.
Miss Olsen spent last week visiting in Greec with Mrs. Weedman and departed for her home in Denver on Sunday afternoon.
The Tribune’s prize offer drew floods of limericks on Paul Gilmore and his play The Mummy and the Humming Bird. Readers praised Gilmore while jokers lampooned the show and promised to attend.
