Miss Russell forewoman in Beitner butter dish factory packing department was overcome by the heat yesterday near noon and briefly unconscious. She revived with cold water and returned to work. Everett, another employee, could not finish the day and went home about 4 p.m.

Beside His Wife Funeral for William Wright Held in Long Lake Township

The funeral for William Wright 80s was held at his daughter Mrs East's home in Long Lake township with Rev Mrs Carter and Rev Mr Zimmerman officiating. Born in 1824 in Tennessee he moved to southern Michigan early in life to farm and lived with his son in law Dr J Base. A Friends church member for 85 years, he leaves a daughter and two grandchildren Will and Lieva East. The body goes to Penn for burial beside his wife who preceded him by 35 years.

Died at sanitarium after long cancer illness

John Tokman died at the sanitarium Tuesday night after a lingering cancer illness. He was about 65, lived at 723 Wayne Street, and is survived by an invalid widow and two daughters Anna Razik Sum merville Mass and Fred Norton Butler South Dakota. A stepson Joseph Tohman lives in Chicago. Widow to live with him. Funeral tomorrow at 10 from E L Hughes undertakers.

G A R Encampment Organizes For September Meeting

An executive committee meeting for the G A R encampment formed under O P Carver as chairman R E Walter as secretary and Thos T Bates as treasurer. The event scheduled for September 15 to 18 aims for a large successful gathering with posts in the region already taking action. Miss Helen Wilhelm traveled to Frankfort yesterday.

Outlook Bleak for Glazier Creditors in Detroit Meeting

Creditors of ex State Treasurer Frank P. Glazier in Detroit heard forecasts of very low recoveries from his estate. Estimates indicate less than ten percent, possibly as low as one percent, with a forced sale unlikely to fetch full value. The partly completed Ann Arbor Glazier building dominates discussion as the Security Trust Company advances $20,000 in receiver’s certificates to fund finishing work.

Local Maccabee meeting slated for Manistee

Local tents plan a special train to Manistee for the Northern Michigan Maccabee association meeting on August 14. About 5 000 to 7 000 Maccabees are expected, with delegates EB M Franklin and John Gilchrist leading. Traverse City hopes to host next year. Taft Honored by Steam Shovelers Union in Cincinnati

William Howard Taft remained at the Taft residence and then departed with Mrs Taft and Gen and Mrs Elenry Corbin for Hot Springs Virginia. Judge Taft was formally made an honorary member of the Steam Shovelers union in a ceremony at the Taft home. The induction was conducted there.

Cadets Host Youth Party at Neah Ta Wanta Camp

The Ohio Military Institute cadets in camp at Ne ah ta wana hosted a youth party last evening. Visitors arrived by launch and rig and attended a dance at the hotel. Refreshments of punch and cake were served. The event ended at midnight with all attendees enjoying the evening. Chaperons were Mrs. M Beets and Mrs. J V McIntosh.

No Wheat Yet as Traverse City Milling Expands Storage

The Traverse City Milling Co adds a 98 by 50 storage addition, fully floored with hardwood and finished to match the mill exterior. The project proceeds at a steady pace with no rush and will greatly boost storage capacity. Neither mill has received local wheat yet, though arrivals may occur soon.

Thomas outruns sun on 16 mile lake ride

Jerry Thomas rose at 4 a m to reach Long Lake cottage before Parm and family woke. He endured heat and sand hills, then phoned home to rouse the others. Rev Franklin Meredith rode 16 miles on a bicycle to preach and back, fearing Thomas might beat him home on foot.

Mrs Emerson Dies At Old Mission Home

Mrs Joseph Emerson, aged 66, died Tuesday afternoon at 2 at her sister Mrs Tyre's home in Old Mission from stomach trouble after six weeks of illness.
