Northport Notes Brightens With Summer Visits

In Grand Traverse region Northport reports a flurry of family visits and local gatherings. Mrs Arthur Bordeaux and children arrived Wednesday. Clifford Barnes returned from Harbor Springs to stay briefly. Mrs Dame and daughters Vivian and Geulah hosted relatives. many residents attended dances, picnics, and excursions to Traverse City Charlevoix and Mast Jordin. The community notes a lighthouse weather storm, a chimney strike at Kehl's hotel, and several church sermons by Rev. N S Alderkin and Rev Russell T Bready. Royal Bigelow and others enjoyed time in Traverse City while Aug 1 events and local births and deaths are recorded.

Pioneer tourists gather in region as summer guests arrive

A long list of visitors and seasonal residents is noted in the harbor town. Rev. Bixby of Chicago serves as Rector Emeritus of St Johns, while Murray Lawr of Chicago guests at Glen Bay. Local families host guests from Chicago and Milwaukee at Cedar Springs Lodge and Idle-a-White. The Wavecrest yacht Illinois sails into harbor with others from the Chicago Mackinac races. Gypsies Forcibly Ordered Out Of City After Visit

A traveling group with two wagons and two sets of horses arrived in the city today from Kalkaska claiming a route to Chicago via Manistee. After police inspection the authorities decided the city was safer without their presence and ordered the party to move on, effectively dispersing them.
