Sixteen miners and three rescuers were brought to the surface from Grand Saline's Morton Salt Company Mine after an elevator shaft accident. All were unharmed and in good spirits. Plant manager Jack Brumbaugh said air and food were available and no one was in danger.

Regular monthly fellowship gathers Friday night June 9 at First Pentecostal Church in Grand Saline. Event starts at 7:30 PM with a standing invitation extended to all attendees.
Grand Saline School system launches a preschool and Summer Language Arts reading program starting Monday June 12. Registration is June 8 and 9 from 8 to 8. Programs run from 8 to 12 for preschool and 8 to 12:30 for grades levels 1 through 11 with multiple teachers including Mrs Zenobia Adrian and Miss Alverine McWhorter. Transportation provided on request.
A meeting is set for Thursday at 6:00 PM at Grand Saline Elementary School to discuss the Summer Recreation Association summer swimming program. The Wills Point pool is secured and a 25 cent daily charge applies. The association seeks qualified instructors and lifeguards and invites interested volunteers, including Boy Scouts with lifesaving qualifications.

The Grand Saline Summer Recreation Association kicks off the 1967 baseball season with Pee Wee teams 1 and 4 opening the schedule. Team No. 1 defeats Team No. 4 12 to 8 in a strong opening game as coaches De La Rosa Hamilton Humphrey and Newsom lead multiple rosters across Pee Wee Little League and Junior girls softball with long schedules announced.
