A first of its kind family oriented Scouting Spectacular is planned for Sunday June 4 at the National Guard Armory in Terrell from 2 to 6 30 p m. Mineola Speedway Opens Season With Exciting Night
About 500 fans attended the inaugural Mineola Speedway night held four miles west of Mineola on the Grand Saline highway. Owner B L Green of Grand Saline said more cars are expected as drivers race under supervision rather than on public roads. Results included Jerry Stanberry winning Trophy Dash and Second Heat Race, Buddy Herring taking First Heat and Feature, with Herbie Lyle placing second in the Feature. Time trials set for 7:30 and races at 8:30 on Saturday night June 3.

Grand Saline Rodeo Parade Opens Friday Evening
The sixth annual Grand Saline Rodeo starts with a downtown parade Friday at 5 30 p m forming at the new school building. The Grand Saline High School Band and riding clubs from Texas join as parade riders. Rodeo queens Bonnie and Connie Davis, 1967 Grand Saline graduates, will ride and be crowned Friday night. The rodeo runs Friday and Saturday with events expected this week.

Youth Retreat At Lake Lavon Draws 45 Attendees
Main Street Baptist youth and sponsors including 54 attended a two day Youth Retreat at Lake Lavon Encampment. They rode from Grand Saline to Greenville City Park for a lunch stop before continuing to the camp. Activities included Bible study worship prayer swimming recreation talent show campfire singspiration and fellowship. The group returned home after an overnight stay reporting a wonderful time.
