The notice proclaims fall stock bought before price rises from the great war in Europe. It highlights fall shoes and pants for men women and boys, fall suits, and a complete millinery department. Miss Irene Evans returns to lead the millinery department, with experience in a large wholesale millinery house in the Southwest.
Mrs. John Raley died at her Dallas home after a 36 day illness from typhoid fever. Her body was shipped to Bryson for burial beside her mother. Funeral services were led by Rev. Gaines B. Hall of the First Presbyterian Church. She was born March 8, 1882 and joined the Presbyterian Church at 17. She had lived in Graham briefly last year and left many friends. She is survived by her husband, a young son, a sister in Lub bock, and brothers in Tahoka and Bryson.
Pastor Rev. W. D. Boswell of the First Baptist church wrapped up a strong revival meeting at Farmer Monday night. Graham Baptist visitors added to the singing on Sunday and Monday nights, enhancing a genuine revival that benefited all denominations through forceful sermons.
A large diamond rattlesnake was killed near the Lon Mat thews residence in west Graham after dark last Monday night. It had ten rattles and a button, one of the largest seen, found by the Matthews daughter who alerted her father. The piece notes rising rattle snakes in the area and cautions barefooted children to beware weeds and weed patches.
Judge R F Arnold and his family left Graham yesterday to settle in Henrietta. He is praised as a longtime church member and pillar of the county, noted for legal skill and public service. Monday brings Trades Day with a district court session, stock dealers, and a busy shopping scene as merchants showcase fall goods. The town eyes a strong cotton crop despite boll weevil damage, hoping for high yields and good market prices.
Leonard Norman departed Tuesday for Dallas to attend the Metropolitan Business College. Mr and Mrs Frank Rickles of Ivan returned from a prospecting trip to Brownfield and are visiting Sam Copeland and family.
The final fall open air band concert is moved to Friday night September 25 after Baptist Association opens tonight and Methodist Revival begins Sunday. The band aims for one of the season’s best programs.
