Good Rains End Drought In Young County Update

Bishop Killed Near Graham and Buried in Oak Grove
Local resident Mr. Bishop was killed near his Graham home early Monday and buried Tuesday in Oak Grove Cemetery. Dr. C R Taylor conducted the funeral at the Graham Baptist church. Survived by his wife and eight children, he lived in Bishop addition during Graham's boom and was known as an honest upright citizen.

Officers Elected for Young County Fair Association
At a recent directors meeting of the Young County Fair Association Secretary Walker of the Chamber of Commerce was elected president and Mallow of Mallow's drug store was chosen secretary treasurer. Sam Copeland won the contract to prepare grounds north of Fourth Street to the ball park and west of the Wichita Falls railroad to Salt Creek. Grounds will be cleared and leveled with only underbrush removed between Fourth and Fifth streets. County Agent A L Robertson and Home Demonstration Agent Miss Blanche Harte Smith will assist residents countywide. The complete list of officers and directors is provided with plans and premium lists to be mailed this week.

Pioneer Citizen of Graham Dies Sunday Morning
John F. Orrell, a Graham pioneer since 1878, died just before 4 a.m. Sunday after months of poor health from an enlarged heart. Born April 10 1849 in Indiana, he served in the northern army, married Isa Bell Colclasure in 1868, and moved from Gatesville to Graham. He leaves thirteen children, eight surviving, and was active in the Republican party and the I O O F lodge. funeral services were held at his residence with Odd Fellows escorting to Oak Grove Cemetery.

The tax offices reopen with collectors ready to receive state county and school taxes. Mr Steele handles state and county taxes while Mr Fowler takes city taxes at City Hall. Pistol kills G. W. Bishop near Graham in debt dispute
G. W. Bishop was shot to death beside a truck at the Four Gable Garage area one mile west of Graham. H. C. Walker, proprietor of the garage, was arrested after allegedly firing three shots over a debt dispute, with an examining trial held before Judge Stinson and bail denied. A boy and a 13 year old nearby provided limited testimony. Mrs. Bishop aided the dying man as others arrived.
