Rev T E Bowman Mrs Bowman and Miss Nona Akard left Tuesday for Weatherford to attend the Central Texas Conference session. He has completed four years here and it is not known if he will be returned. The congregation requests another year and the Bowmans are popular in Graham for their work and the church’s new building.

Preparations Underway for Shooting Jeffery Well North of Graham
The Jeffery well north of Graham, closed for months, is being prepared for shooting. A representative of the new company says cleaning out the well will allow gas to flow in intervals through a liquid filled hole. The well should be ready to shoot within a few days as the firm plans extensive drilling in Young and Jack counties.

Light frosts this week in mild fall

Mrs. J. C. Hamer Dies at East Graham Residence
Mrs. J. C. Hamer died at her East Graham home last Thursday morning. Funeral held Tuesday afternoon by Rev. T. E. Bowman. Remains shipped to Ardmore, Oklahoma, for burial. Survived by husband, four children, mother, one sister, three brothers, and other relatives. Member of United Brethren, planned to join Methodist church.

Edgar Kemp Resigns as County Agent for D A and P Railroad
County Agent Edgar Kemp resigns his Graham post to join the San Antonio and Aransas Pass Railroad with headquarters in San Antonio. He will move with his family next week and assume duties upon arrival. Kemp has served four years and is leaving many friends in the county.

Armistice Day Celebration Draws Huge Graham Crowds
Armistice Day events on Saturday November 11 1922 drew estimated crowds of 15000 or more in Graham with the American Legion co hosting a banquet for nearly 500 veterans and spouses. A grand parade featured many floats cars and prizes while a football game between Graham and Electra capped the day. The celebration raised over 600 for a community house and included performances by The Harmonizers and a three act comedy at the high school.

New Gooseneck Bridge Opens To Traffic Across Brazos
The Gooseneck bridge across the Brazos is complete and open for heavy traffic. The crossing’s previous bridge washed out last May, a temporary span served until steel arrived and placement finished. The Commissioners Court accepted the new structure this week. it will aid the oil fields south of Graham.

Lively Family Moves to Commerce Texas for Ties to Farming
Mr. and Mrs. M. A. Lively and their young daughter departed for Commerce Texas where they will reside. Mr. Lively spent over two years in Graham making many friends and previously worked with the Texas Company before managing the Graham Abstract and Title Company. He will oversee farming interests near Commerce now.

Chautauqua Holds Armistice Program
The Chautauqua gathered at Mrs. Harry Bennett’s home on Wednesday November 8 for an Armistice program. Mrs. Penix presided delivering an inspirational address and patriotic quotations accompanied the roll call. The constitution was amended to enlarge membership to twenty five and five members were elected to vacancies. Cards and readings celebrated the flag while other speakers noted world tensions and recommended readings on America and Canada.

Pioneer Citizen Dies While Going Home
Allen Williams a pioneer cattleman and deputy sheriff died while returning from Graham to his ranch two miles north of Markley in Young County. He left Graham about 11 o'clock Saturday with his son O B age 12 and daughter Eula Faye age 12 and Eula Faye's friend Miss Lindsay age 16. The Ford roadster was crowded and the death was discovered only after they reached Tom Lindsay's home near Markley. The family had attended the Armistice day celebration in Graham and Williams was last known alive then.

Monster gasser in Carter Bend looks promising
A monster gas discovery was reported at 1,525 feet in Carter Bend last Sunday with a gauge of eleven and a quarter million feet. Oil men expect nearby oil sands and plan multiple drillings within 30 days while noting low costs from shallow testing.
