A large school day parade crowds Young County with an estimated 2500 to 3000 participants. County Superintendent Avants organized the idea and teachers and students created original parade sections. Spectators praised the event as the finest feature of the fair and a milestone in local education.

Indians Attend Young County Fair

Report of Baby Welfare Booth at the Fair
At the Fair Park Better Baby Booth run by Mrs C Fox Clarke two hundred fifty babies were weighed measured and tagged. About twenty percent were underweight seven percent perfect and seventy three over weight. Names and ages of the perfect babies are listed with meals and nutrition charts provided by the University of Texas bureau. The program urges corrective steps for malnourished children and teaching healthy habits to all children.

Corpus Christi man and son killed by san antonio bomb
A bomb sent from San Antonio killed J. A. Barnes and his son in Corpus Christi. A 14-year-old boy said he was paid twenty five cents to deliver the package to the express office. No arrests had been made at press time.

The high school football game ended 22 to 6 in favor of Bowie, as Graham fielded two injured players. Atcheson returned a foward pass sixty yards for Graham’s lone TD while Bowie appeared stronger and more rested. Bridgeport High pledges to visit Graham next Friday for a planned close contest at 4 PM with expected large attendance.

Bond Election For Road Building Ordered
Petitions to the commissioners court this week requested a road bond election to fund county road construction. The election was ordered and plans will be drawn. it may occur on the first Saturday in January. Jack County voted last Saturday 5 to 1 in favor. Ranger Gas Company Changes Its Name to Southwestern Gas
A. T. Barrett and Attorney Elmer Graham were in Fort Worth last week on business for the Southwestern Gas Light & Power Company. The Ranger Gas Company has been renamed with a $700,000 capitalization and has acquired light plants at Newcastle Olney and South Bend, plus the Breckenridge gas plant and system. The firm plans to serve 50,000 people efficiently and cheaply. A. P. Barrett of Fort Worth is president and A. T. Barrett remains general manager at Graham.

Sheriff Davis Receives 4 Year Penitentiary Sentence
Sheriff W. T. Davis of Somervell county, arrested in the Glen Rose raid last summer, was sentenced to four years in the penitentiary by the Johnson county district court this week. He faced charges of taking a bribe to refrain from arresting men accused of operating a liquor ring.

First Annual Young County Fair Delights Crowds
