Graham's Tourist Park opened mid May for the summer season and has seen steady camping turnout. The Chautauqua club closed its year with a May 23 meeting led by Mrs. B. W. King. After a talk on The Greatest Women of the World by Mrs. John Dowdle, members debated the resolution That the Federal Reserve Bank is Beneficial. The affirmative, including Mrs. S. A. Penix and Mrs. Zachary Hudson, won against the negative by Mrs. Hall Morrison and Mrs. G. W. Miller. Visitors included Mesdames Hattie Miller, John B. Rhea and E. C. Reed, and cake with brick ice cream was served in white and grey.

Driver Building Under Way At Northeast Corner Square
Remodeling and enlargement of the Driver Building began last week with contractor O Connell aiming to finish in ninety days. The south front will house drug store news stand and barber shop while the east front becomes Rob Own Hotel lobby. A cafe will adjoin the lobby and the three story structure with basement will serve the Mason ic club on the basement and Rob Own Hotel on the upper floors. Mrs Barnes oversees plans to ensure modern hotel amenities and comfort. The Driver building is expected to be among the best in the region and was rented in advance before work started.

Memorial services of the American Legion and other organizations were held at the Baptist church in Loving on Sunday. Judge S A Penix of Graham delivered the address, with a vocal solo by W D McFarlane of Graham and a duet by Box and Brother. Readings and other entertainments were presented before a large audience, after which attendees decorated graves at the cemetery.

Marathon Dance Breaks: Stephens County Sheriff Suspends Event
Breckenridge Texas May 80 Sheriff L D Head halted a marathon dance started last night in Clover Leaf Hall as dancers quit around 2 am. Dallas organizers J D Lacy and W T Strawbridge rented the hall for spectators and admission fees. Rosser J Newman, who has broken the record twice, hoped to dance ten days straight with brief intermissions. Preparations suggested the goal of a long continuous trial with supplies bought for long endurance.

Military Band To Visit Graham On June Fourth
Superintendent H H Avants reports a letter from John Tarleton Agricultural College Dean announcing that the Military Band from Stephenville Texas and other representatives will arrive in Graham about 11 o clock Monday morning June 4 and give a concert. The mayor and chamber of commerce secretary have been notified. The college branch is aiding this section of Texas. Judge Schenck has two sons enrolled and Mr Bynum's daughter is also a student.

Picnic Honoring Veterans June near Newcastle

Governor approves enforcement laws in second session
Governor Neff today approved three enforcement bills from the second called session. The measures include a liquor bill making possession of liquor or materials for making liquor prima facie evidence of guilt, a felony for driving while intoxicated, and an Abney bill to close hotels or restaurants permitting liquor or gambling. All take effect 90 days after adjournment.

Boys Find Wolves On Horner Farm Near Graham
Mr J W Horner raised wolves four miles south of Graham and reported chicken losses. Pendley boys found a mother wolf and six pups near a den in the field, dug them out, and brought them home as pets at the Brazos Goose Neck bridge. The pups ate the dead chickens until appetite returned. Investors can find the wolves at Pendley’s unless sold.

Mrs. Frank Parrish and her children arrived Sunday from Cisco to make Graham their home. Mr. Parrish is cashier of the State Guaranty bank and has been here several weeks. Mrs. Parrish did not come until school was out. This estimable family is welcome back to Graham.
