The Graham Chamber of Commerce hosted a well attended banquet in the Methodist church basement served by the Mecca Cafe. A. W. Kay acted as master of ceremonies and a plan for quarterly banquets was approved. Speakers included Mayor Stinson Senate candidate Earl Mayfield Judge Weldon and Judge Kay. Community house paving and square improvements were urged and Miss Akard’s violin orchestra provided musical highlights.

Memorial Day Service at Methodist Church
The Memorial Day observance by the American Legion post and the Daughters of the Confederacy will be at the Methodist church next Sunday May 28 at 3:00 PM. Rev T E Bowman will give the invocation. A program includes singing America, a short talk by the post commander, music, a Confederate Soldiers tribute by Mrs Nat Price, an address by J B Rhea, a 30 second silence for departed comrades, and the Star Spangled Banner. Flowers should be brought. After services at the cemetery the Daughters will serve cream and cake in the church basement to veterans old soldiers wives and widows. All Legion members ex-soldiers and their families are invited.

New Store Building Nearing Completion
The Carrel Brough Robinson Gates Wholesale Grocery Company moves to a new west side square location from the north side. Graham house No 8 is in the company chain with Texan outlets at Wichita Falls Quanah Vernon and Graham. The parent company is capitalized at 1.5 million dollars. Martin Well North Of Eliasville Might Open New Field
Interest grows in a new oil field in southwestern Young county as the Panhandle Refining Company tests the Martin well two miles north of Eliasville. The well shows oil and gas but faces casing and water problems after a nitroglycerin shot failed to free tools. salt water flowed for hours after a collapsed casing dropped 280 feet. Efforts continue to pull and reset casing. success could indicate paying oil in the area with more drilling planned nearby by Rosas on Cotton survey and Gulf on J W Burdett test.

Music Club Plans Revival And Victrola Purchase
