Graham High School closing exercises celebrate 1916 17 term
The Graham Schools closed the 1916-17 term with a baccalaureate at the Christian church by Rev. Gary L. Smith. Lucian W. Parrish spoke at commencement for graduates Oliver Loving, John Morrison Jr., Clyde Guinn, Willard Mobley, Floy Hinson, Ruby Snoddy, and Etta Schlittler. Scholarships were awarded to top students for study at multiple universities.

Auxiliary meeting at church discusses missions and stewardship
The Auxiliary met at the church on Thursday May 17 with fourteen members present. The group sang Take Time to be Holy and heard devotions from Isa 50 and Lamentations Ezekiel Bible study led by Mrs Hudson. They adopted a common aim and motto and prayed for missionaries and the Birmingham General Assembly. Reporter Beckham purchases bonds notes the Beckham National Bank subscribing to 10000 of U S Liberty Loan Bonds, correcting a prior error.

Olney boosters visit Graham for Chautauqua boost
More than fifty Olney citizens arrived by twelve autos to back Graham’s upcoming Chautauqua. After dinner at Dolman House the Olney band and Graham musicians performed in front of the hotel and at the courthouse park. Col S R Crawford welcomed visitors. A A Cooper and W D Boswell responded. Robert Fowler Jr. played cornet. The five day Chautauqua starts next Saturday. tickets were reportedly selling well.

The Baptist Missionary Society gathered Thursday afternoon in the church auditorium. Mrs. J T Rickman led an Our Royal Service lesson on The Home Base with prayers, psalms, papers, and solo performances. Twenty two members attended and welcomed Mrs. Beach as a new member.
