Death of C. D. Brewton Prominent Young County Justice
C D Brewton died at his East Street home after several months illness. Born 1851 in Alabama, he was 71. Longtime Justice of the Peace for the precinct and a deacon of the Baptist Church. Survived by his wife and three sons. Funeral held at the Baptist Church led by Rev. G W Black. last words to Black were God bless you. Community mourns a devout citizen and open life.

Murder charge filed in Archer County death tragedy
A murder charge is filed in Archer County against Robert Metcher after his father-in-law Will Saylor and sister-in-law Miss Sayfor died in a Windthorst road fire on May 5. Fletcher, jailed in Archer City, faces an examining trial this week as investigators link the gasolene explosion to a struck match when a car went off a bridge. Fletcher was slightly burned. Evidence remains circumstantial.
