Mitchell County Storm Kills Many as Homes, Crops Suffer
A severe storm in Mitchell County leaves about twenty dead and nearly one hundred injured. Fifty homes destroyed, crops heavily damaged. miraculous rescues include a 3 month old found alive and an 18 year old blown a half mile unharmed. Relief trains bring doctors and supplies. Floods hit Hot Springs, Arkansas, with deaths and widespread inundation. Snow storms reported in Denver and nearby areas.

Heighton Wins First Prize Money at Wolf Hunters Meet
The Wolf Hunters Association held a Graham meeting last Monday with prizes for the best pair of dogs. Twenty six dogs entered. J L Heighton won first prize, R F Roquemore second, Louis Bower third. Owners praised the dogs as classy. The association meets every second Monday in Graham.

The Graham Hide and Produce Company on West Fourth and Pecan streets has built solid business since opening. Manager A A Johnston aims to serve Young and nearby counties by providing a reliable market for local products. He bought up to 500 dozen eggs in a day and has shipped over 250 cases of eggs, 5 000 pounds of poultry, and one car load. He has also been purchasing wool countywide, including 1977 pounds at forty cents a pound. Sheep farming and dairy cattle are encouraged as growth sectors for the area.

Sheriff Cambern Nets Suspects and Raids Still Trade
Sheriff Cambern and deputies arrest seven people and seize a still near Graham. In two weeks thirty inmates fill the jail, with six men and one woman held. The raid targets oil field piping theft and car theft. nineteen cars recovered, eight suspects arrested, and more tied to the stolen vehicles.

Breckenridge and Graham Lions Take Charge of City Friday
On Friday May 11 the Graham Lions hosted a baseball game with Breckenridge Lions from Stephens County. Breckenridge won as Graham, despite strong play, allowed the visitors to edge ahead then concede. The Graham Lions organized an automobile show with prize judging by Lions Morrison Holder and Gill. Judges awarded Miss Katherine Morris first prize, Miss Loraine Millican second, and Mrs. R. L. LeSage third. Thirty seven entries. all scores stayed above seventy.
