Death of J. J. Burkett in Rocky Mound area
J J Burkett former Rocky Mound resident died from blood poisoning at his home last Sunday evening. Funeral services were held at the Methodist church at 3 PM with Rev J L Oliver, burial Monday at Oak Grove cemetery. He was 40, survived by his wife seven children and his parents two sisters and three brothers all of Collin County. A header attachment for binders was shown at Norris Johnson Hardware to cut low grain and salvage it amid short wheat.

Graham Public Library Grows on Small Funding Foundations
Nine months after its idea the Graham Public Library now holds 224 volumes and two bookcases. Funds come from Chautauqua dues and fines, two public entertainments, a book shower, plus rental income and magazine sales. The library seeks funds for reference books and maps and invites donations at librarian hours on Saturdays, with all money going to the library fund.

War Breaks Up Little Rock College Closure
Rev. Herbert Heageny president of Little Rock College announced the school will close Monday as 42 students and three faculty members have enlisted in the army or navy. One-Inch Rain Boosts Northwest Texas Crops
A slow one inch rain fell last Sunday across Northwest Texas and Southwest Oklahoma easing drought damage. Amarillo reported eight inches of heavy snow Saturday night. The slow rain soaked in, improving stock water and soil, reviving the wheat crop, and setting up favorable conditions for corn, cotton, feterita maize, and feed crops as ground warms.
