Young Man Suffered Severe Injuries in Horse Accident
Archie Newby, twenty four, hurt when the horse he rode fell on him while driving cattle. He was brought to the city in an ambulance. X rays show a fractured pelvis and crushed left side. He lives in Wild Bend, formerly near Graham and attended Graham schools. Friends mourn his injuries and wish him a speedy recovery.

King family trip reflects regional views on Texas cities
B W King and his family traveled last week through Galveston San Antonio and other southern cities. He remarked that if he were a Mexican he would choose San Antonio and if a Negro he would pick Waco, but he views West Texas and Graham as a white man’s country. The weather has been fine for over two weeks and threshers are busy nationwide. Yields exceed expectations with oats reported at over 100 bushels per acre. If fair weather continues, most grain will soon be threshed. Corn awaits rain and may be light without it. Other feed crops are in good condition.
Retail Merchants Plan For Big Occasion In Graham
The Graham Retail Merchants Association held a Monday night meeting to plan the Big Day in Graham on July 38. A large crowd is expected for prize drawings including a Buick car a $200 radio a steel kitchen cabinet and a Victrola. Prizes will be awarded at 4 30 p m next Tuesday is the last day to enter. A band will play and a Breckenridge baseball team will visit to face Graham. Ice water and shaded parks will make the day comfortable with dinning facilities available. The Leader will report weekly on the association’s community efforts and July 3 promises a strong program.

Immense crowds witness parade of Ku Klux Klan
A Graham crowd of an estimated ten to twelve thousand watched a visiting Ku Klux Klan parade on June 26. About 2,500 to 3,000 autos filled streets, with four robed riders leading the march and a fiery cross displayed near the grandstand. Afterward, attendees heard speeches at the ball park without incident.

McDowell’s Bond Raised To Fifteen Thousand Dollars
