Death of Goose Neck Bend resident Joe Parsons

Joe Parsons, longtime Goose neck Bend resident and respected citizen, died suddenly Wednesday evening at 6 after kidney and heart troubles. He leaves a widow, six children, his mother and two brothers in Graham and Megargel. Funeral and interment were held near Ivan with Rev. G. W. Black presiding.

Williams-Adams R C Williams and Miss Mat Tie Adams Wedding

Williams and Adams tied the knot at Fort Worth last Saturday. The couple arrived that night, visited relatives, then left Monday for Fort Worth where Mr. Williams works for Southwestern Mechanical Co. He is the son of local residents R L Williams. Mrs Williams has long lived in Fort Worth.

Community drive funds to aid new work room opening July

Friday and Saturday collections will fund supplies for a new work room to open July 3. Over the next three weeks, classes at the Red Cross HQ teach making surgical dressings to aid soldiers and sailors. Free admission, punctual attendance required, July 3 start for afternoon and July 5 start for evening sessions, limited to twenty per class.

Camp Fire Girls Present Minnetoska Dream at Opera House

The Camp Fire Girls stage Minnetoska's Dream Friday at 8 30 PM in the Opera House. The forest council fire scene features 35 maidens including Minnetoska and Dream Spirits with Mystic Fire sung to a native melody. Baptist Church Sunday sermon and Olney dedication services

The pastor will preach on The Garden of the Cross Sunday morning with no evening service due to dedicatory ceremonies for the new Baptist Church building at Olney. Eight-Year-Old Freeman Boy Injures Heel

The eight-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. I. V. Freeman cut the tendon of his left heel last Monday evening. He was playing with a hoe when it dropped and severed the tendon. He received treatment in town and was returned home that evening.

Graham citizens subscribed $31,000 to the Liberty Loan Bond issue according to a statement of the banks. Beckham National Bank alone subscribed $10,000 of the total.

Oil Field News Drilling Progress in South Bend Area

Drilling in the South Bend field shows little excitement as the Goode place rig is repaired and suspended for now. Two new rigs head to Miller Bend to begin work by July 6 on Judge Arnold and M. K. Graham properties. Miller field reports about 1100 feet depth with drilling ongoing. Breckenridge area reports a 200 barrel well in Stephens county while Wayland and Crystal Falls wells are shut down. Jack County resumes drilling north of Jacksboro after a several day breakdown.

J H Norton Dies In Midland After Long Stockman Career

J H Harrison Norton died at his son Dr Frank Norton's home in Midland Texas last Friday evening. His remains were shipped to the old home near Ivan to rest in South Prairie cemetery last Sunday evening. Norton was a leading stockman in Stephens County for over thirty years and was well known across West Texas. He had been in poor health a year and spent months in Mineral Wells for his health. He leaves an aged wife and several grown children.

Couple Ties the Knot in Court Hall Ceremony

Senor Girardo Pena and Senorita Agela Cuellan wed last Saturday in the courthouse hallway before a crowd. Justice of the Peace Brewton officiated hastily but paired the couple in wedlock, hoping for a long, blessed life together.

The body of Mrs. W. E. Bales, buried here a few weeks ago, was exhumed Monday for examination. Authorities think she may have poisoned herself or been poisoned by another. Newcastle Register.

Enlistment Officer Seeks Recruits at Post Office

An enlistment officer is here to secure recruits for the army and navy and will be found at the post office. Men within the age can volunteer for service in the army even after registering. The smallest pay of any man is $30.00 per month up to $106.00, with everything free.

Dr. Terrell in critical condition with slim recovery hope

Word from the hospital reports Dr. W. M. Terrell is very ill and in grave condition with little chance of improvement. No further details are provided about his illness or treatment.
